...I bought this for our office server which before-hand was running a DDS5 tape drive. I have to say the DDS5 backup system we had was excellent and never caused me any problems.
We got to a point where we needed two tapes to do a backup, and considering we keep backups for up to a month, thats a hell of a lot more tapes we would have to buy.
After a lot of research and learning about DLT and SDLT, we discovered the V160. DLT allows backups to 40GB (80GB Compressed) and SDLT is alot more (i forget the figures). DLT would not have been enough and SDLT is a hell of a lot more expensive.
QuantumsV160 is right in the middle of the two and each tape can store up to 160GB data if compressed. We managed to get the drive for around £700 and then bought a number of tapes. It was delivered direct from Quantum within a week.

But now the bombshell - during the 'research' in this review - Amazon tells me this product is no longer available, and they don't know when or if this item will be back in stock. This is probably due to the 2.5 inch version now being available - the 'streamline' version. Apparently, even in the world of desktop hard drives, looks are everything......

Advantages: Light, cheap and VERY simple to use Disadvantages: not found those yet
...I bought this one week at Tesco for under £40 so thought 160Gb forvthat price couldn't be bad. we just wanted to back up our photos and music and free a bit of space on our computer.
I am not a computer wizz and things have to be reasonably simple. This is SO SIMPLE. Very basic small box-like drive which is also very light so easy to transport around if you want to. it comes with one lead with two USB ports at one end to go into the computer and the other has the point that connects to the hard drive.
You connect all the points to the correct places and then it boots itself in and installs without any further ado. No expertise required at all. Any idiot could do it.
After that just copy files over or open documents and save to the hard drive which comes up like any other memory stick when you click where you want to "save as...
