"Queen Victoria Summer Night Market - more than just a market!"

Summer Night Market in Melbourne is a truly superb entertainment, definitely a thing to do while in Melbourne. Summer Night Market works in summer, open five days a week, Tuesday, Thursday-Sunday.

Queen Victoria Market is located in the heart of the city, Corner of Elizabeth & Victoria Streets. The market itself is a traditional old-fashioned building and a huge open space. Access to the night market is free.

So, why go there?

1. Souvenirs
Shopping for souvenirs on Victoria Night Market is a lot of fun. It provides you with a chance to get traditional souvenirs (magnets, T-shirts with coalas and kangaroos and other stuff) at lower prices than in the shops around the city. You can also find there some vintage things, clothes, hats and a lot of fashion jewelry. I usually buy some earrings when travel, and the choice on Vic Market was really amazing. Prices are absolutely OK, I didn't find better offers in Melbourne

2. Food
There is a variety of foods to try: pancakes, boreks, wurst, Moroccan food, Cantonese food, sweets, and of course fresh seafood! I took some fresh oysters - and they were very delicious! The only negative comment is that you have to be ready for long lines.

3. Drinks
There are open-air bars around the market where you can get some wine and cocktails to go, also there is a number of coffee shops.

4. Activites
In addition to shopping and dining, you can also enjoy some live musuc. There are musicians performing here and there, and also there is a stage where you can listen to bands. It was really nice to take a glass of wine from the bar, sit on the chairs in front of the stage and enjoy a live concert and a pleasant late summer night.

I'm not absolutely sure about the opening hours of the Night Market; when we visited this place everything seemed to start closing at midnight.

I'd definitely recommend spending one evening in Melbourne to go to this place and combine shopping with fun.
