We had this floor laid in one of the bedrooms and in the hallway about four years ago.
Our main reason for getting a floor of this type laid was because we had mum here with quite advanced multiple sclerosis she had a full sized hospital bed a large electrical hoist and nurses calling in two at a time four times a day to see to her a cat and a dog two children. So it was a very busy house if you also include the various visiters dropping in friends relatives etc.
We had got through two hall carpets and three bedroom carpets in mums room.Just for the amount of things dropped and spilled and general wear and tear in the five previous years.we thought it was time to think of an alternative. We were just fed up of buying carpets and the last hall carpet looked pretty grim despite being quite an expensive good quality one.
We knew we had to get a good quality sturdy floor so picked the Quick step from their classic 800 range in teak.
Lots of choice of different colours they also do an underlay that helps with sound proofing. Its warm and comfortable to walk on
Lots of people we knew had bought laminate flooring and raved about it.We got a flooring company to fit it as we did not feel to confident to lay it ourselves.
What a difference it has made easy to clean.Just a quick sweep with a brush, then a wipe over with one of the floor damp cloths you can buy in packets.Any spillage is easily wiped up.
Its been down just over four years and looks as good as the day it was laid and recently, last month we also had the sittingroom done as well.
It is worth paying out for the more exensive type like this as it has good lasting quality and other people we know who have spent a lot less do not seem to be as lucky with their floor as we have.
It certainly stands up to the wear and tear so it makes it good value for money in the end.
I should also add that the company who fitted the latest floor in the sittingroom tried to pull a fast one and laid it with a cheap underlay instead if the branded uniclic combifloor one it made the floor hollow sounding plus our voices were echoing slightly, as well as invalidating the guaruntee. On my insistance I made them come back and take it up and relay it with the right combifloor underlay. It is now perfect and the floor is no longer hollow sounding we live in a flat so its important for it to be right.you definatly need to use the right matching underlay with this flooring.
Must also add that it would work out a lot cheaper to shop around for this flooring and the accessories needed by checking out the flooring suppliers online, some offer some really good deals and you can make quite a saving, then all you need to do is decide id you want to lay it yourself or get a company in to lay it for you.

I love carpet - I just think it's less noisy, I just must tsay though - you are obviously a wonderful person to dedicate your home to the care of your mother (although I would do the same myself!) Jane x

Should I move, I'll need something like this. I too, am sick of carpet.
