I've had my Quinny Zapp for nearly a month now and am largely pleased with my investment. At around 150 pounds it is alot more expensive than most umbrella style buggies but it does have certain advantages over the conventional lightweight 4 wheel buggies that can make it worth the extra cost. I think it is suitable from around 6 months to 3 years and comes in a variety of colours.

First I'll briefly go into my reasons for buying the Quinny Zapp as it sheds some light onto why the Zapp may be worth it for you. I am now heavily pregnant with my second child and before I got the Zapp was having difficulty handling my conventional umbrella style buggy with my toddler in it. The first problem was manouevrablility and the second was lifting it onto the bus.

The Quinny Zapp beats any of the 4 wheel lightweight buggies on steering and manouvrebility simply because of the three wheel design with swivel front wheel. I can spin the buggy rightround with one hand with my toddler in it whereas I found even steering the four wheel types awkward with one hand, never mind spinning them!

The problem I had lifting the buggy into the luggage compartment of the bus was solved by the fact that the Zapp folds up much smaller than the four wheel umbrella style buggies. Even though it doesn't weigh any less the shortness of the folded up Zapp meant I didn't have to lift it as high with one hand, thereby reducing the effort required.

The Quinny Zapp has the added advantage of converting to a travel system with the Maxi Cosi Cabrio car seat, so I'll be able to use it for my new baby and am confident i'll be able to steer with one hand while holding my toddler's hand. It is also quick and simple to collapse once you get used to it as its quite different to conventional lightweight buggies. I should also mention the great braking system which has one red pedal on the right for putting on and is taken off with the grey pedal on the left.

Now for the disadvantages of which have to say I was mostly aware of before I bought as I tried it out in the shop. The greatest disadvantage for me has been the fact that you can't hang any bags except for the very lightest on the back without overbalancing it and risking it toppling. the child sits very high in the seat which is great for them, my son loves his Zapp, but means the centre of gravity is rather high. It is also a little awkward going up and down steps and curbs because of the single wheel at the front and the widely spaced wheels at the back, although I am now getting used to this. The other problem is that although it is quick to collapse it is not quite so simple to put back, I haven't yet found a way of doing it without having to kneel down and pull from underneath the seat.

Having said all this we decided that it was worth overlooking the drawbacks because of the clear advantages for me personally. I also have to say it does look really good, feels great to zoom around town with and it's quite nice to have a cool trendy pushchair! My son has developed an obsession with it and prefers to sit up in the buggy given the choice.

Rounding off, I think the Quinny Zapp is a bit overpriced and is by no means perfect but has clear advantages because of the unique shape and folding system (it folds up smaller than any other buggy) and as far as I'm aware is the only lightweight 3 wheeler available on the high street at the moment which folds up small like an umbrella style buggy. It comes complete with a storage bag, raincover and adapters for the Maxi Mosi Cabrio Car seat (car seat costs around 80 pounds).

I love the look of this buggy, and if I had the money would buy it tomorrow! Just one question - does it have just the one seat position? Great review. Suzy x
