... I feel this is absurd as I am the owner it should be up to me what I do with it not RAC or route 66.
My advice would be stay well away from RAC sat nav (they should perhaps stick to recovery)

If I can save at least one person from the big mistake of buying one of these sat navs then this review is worth it.
I was lucky (or unlucky!) enough to win one of these, thank god I didn’t pay for it! At first when ii received it and got it out of its box I was very impressed. Lots of info on it included all my local amenities etc. But the more and more I played with the more and more I found fault with it.
It is sold as having speed camera locations on it but when you check further into it – it only has 5000 preloaded? 5000 speed cameras for the whole of the up is little low I think! It didn’t have any of my local cameras in it. Also it says it can be used as an MP3 player however there isn’t any room on the measly 256mb memory card they give out with it. So unless you want to spend more money updating the card – it can’t be used straight away as a MP3 player :0(
Also I noticed certain places local to me that have just been built etc aren’t on it. So I went to the website to update and guess what they have no plans to release ANY updates for at least a year :0(
So in effect my sat nav is useless in my eyes.
Speed cameras – virtually none existent
MP3 – can’t be used without spending more money!
Maps outdated already and no updates.
Support isn’t very good either – I decided to register the product when I first got it – thinking that would enable me to update it, but it didn’t do anything apart from give them my details. You can use the product without registering and I got nothing for registering so my advice to anyone thinking of registering is don’t bother!
It works by using the stylus provided (at least something is) very clear easy to read display - however if you try to look over the whole map it keeps jumping back to your location , very annoying . The menu is pretty self explanatory and easy to use . There is place to store all your faveourite places but i havent used this function so cannot comment on how easy it is to use .
It came with a disc that is pretty useless to as all it is , is a copy (pdf) of the manual provided . No backup maps or anything which is a shame!
It also came with a rather nice velvet pouch but no screen wipe . I had to borrow one of my dads glasses cloths .
It comes with a mains charger and a car charger which is good as the battery doesnt seem to last very long (about 2hours mine lasted) so dont forget your car charger else you might nnot be able to get home lol
I finally had enough of my inferior product and decided to give it away, but when I emailed the support for the product I got told very rudely it isn’t intended to be sold on! So I can’t deregister and reregister it to someone else. I feel this is absurd as I am the owner it should be up to me what I do with it not RAC or route 66.
My advice would be stay well away from RAC sat nav (they should perhaps stick to recovery) And get a tom tom lol
Advantages: its a sat nav Disadvantages: speed cam detection built in post code serch
