ROAD ANGEL 6000 - UK Map update costs £50 extra

Advantages: Nice small unit
Disadvantages: Costs a fortune to keep it up to date

ROAD ANGEL 6000 Do you know that UK map updates are not included in the mnthly subscription, so despite you paying almost £50 a year in updates subscription, you have to pay a further £50 for a UK map update. As there are new roads and changes to priority etc almost every week across the UK, it means realistically you are never going to be up to date other than just after you bung the £50 for the map update. I thought my subscription included ...
...locations and black spots and if there is a new road (such as the A30 opened 12 months ago), my system does not even show the road, to get it to do that is £50 extra. I think this is a ripp off and it was never made clear when I purchased it that this was the case. Suggest you check before you buy a sat nav (what ever make it might be) ...

Disadvantages: False Sense of Secuity - Picks up everthing EXCEPT Speed Detectors

...did not detect them. So Snooper telling me that they couldn't have been pointing it at me is just wrong!! I sent the whole lot back to them just before Christmas and it has now been returned to me. They say there is nothing wrong with the laser and they have changed the phone number in the unit. When I asked if I would get a refund for the Subs as I had not been able to download anything I was told no!! Not happy and bitterly disappointed. ...

The B2 does it bomb?

Advantages: Base unit is highly portable, visibility of unit in situ
Disadvantages: Lots of wires to connect before you can get started

The Origin B2 comes in a very discreet white box with plenty of good instructions - but also a kit like that from Blue Peter. The unit cradle needs plugging in to the accessory 12v supply. The GPS unit needs a wire running to its location on the dash board and the (optional and currently legal) laser detector needs the same amount of wiring. Poor effort at a great idea

I bought this device because it seemed to be a cheap, yet well-featured radar detector - it is cheap, but it isn't what I would call a radar detector. It seems to me that it detects anything that emits any sort of electronic interference whatever.
