Ummmmmm...

Advantages: Database constantly updated, easy to set-up
Disadvantages: ...the quiet moments worry me!

...new buildings overnight. The Snooper S3 GPS, Laser and Radar speed camera detector is one of the only systems on the market to combine all three technologies. In essence it detects: Gatso safety cameras, Specs camera systems, Truvelo cameras, Digital cameras, accident hotspots and Laser guns! The database seems fairly extensive (certainly round Stafford), and is updated every other day, so less of a worry with new cameras going up and leaving ...
...UK speed camera database Snooper AURA speed camera subscription - £2.99 a month, £7.99 a quarter, £29.99 a year and comes with a 2 Years manufacturers guarantee I am not sure of the longevity of this product, as keeping your eyes on the road and your speed seem a more reliable option! Fits easily in your pocket or bag at journeys end, and plugs straight into the cigarette lighter for charging. It seems to me to have moments of incredible laziness, ...

Snooper S6R & S6RLD

Advantages: None
Disadvantages: False Sense of Secuity - Picks up everthing EXCEPT Speed Detectors

...did not detect them. So Snooper telling me that they couldn't have been pointing it at me is just wrong!! I sent the whole lot back to them just before Christmas and it has now been returned to me. They say there is nothing wrong with the laser and they have changed the phone number in the unit. When I asked if I would get a refund for the Subs as I had not been able to download anything I was told no!! Not happy and bitterly disappointed. ...

Review of Snooper S6-R

Poor effort at a great idea

Advantages: Great in theory, looks 'gadgety'
Disadvantages: Unreliable warnings

I bought this device because it seemed to be a cheap, yet well-featured radar detector - it is cheap, but it isn't what I would call a radar detector. It seems to me that it detects anything that emits any sort of electronic interference whatever. Driving through a little town in Sussex called Horsham, where there are very few speed cameras, I was almost permanently being warned that I was very close to a camera. Every time I passed a set of traffic ...
...camera, I was warned. I'm struggling to think of why anyone would want this after using it for a week. The idea behind it is of course magnificent - when you approach a camera, the light starts to flash, and a warning beep is given. Your proximity to the camera determines the frequency of the beeps and flashes. The convenience of this idea will give you an idea of how irritating it is when misused - and this device is, I'm afraid, a misuse of technology! ...

Review of Snooper S1

Please allow me to snoop

Advantages: simple installation, easy to use, detects all speed cameras up to 2 miles away
Disadvantages: bleeps an clicks are annoying

...I bought a second hand Snooper S5-R from my brother in law, a device he had used without issue for 3 years. When originally purchased it cost £199.99, yet I managed with a sweet smile and much begging to get it for £50. The Snooper is a small black box powered from the cigarette lighter of the car and sits on the dashboard alerting the driver to static speed cameras (GATSO) and mobile laser speed cameras. When I say that the box is small I mean ...
...I would strongly recommend the Snooper S5-R. It works and works well, requires no software or updates meaning that once it is positioned in the car it is ready to go and ready to save your licence from endorsement. It does however lose one star from the rating because the bleeping and clicking can get very irritating. ...

Could save the licence?

Advantages: Detects fixed camera locations and hand held laser.
Disadvantages: Doesnt detect mobile cameras or hand held radar.

...with a laser gun the snooper will be able to detect "scatter" and therefore warn you before they target your car. Whatever you believe it has this extra feature. You may also set this to alert you to the presence of a school, where potentially there are children who may not know the dangers of crossing the road so it lets you slow down even if you dont know the area your driving through. It also lets users input their own locations. For example you ...
...hazard, you may press a button storing the location to warn you the next time you pass it. It is also very compact and will fit in your pocket easily when you leave the car which can be a disadvantage of some other brands. Another nice feature is that it tells you the speed you are travelling at according to satellite. I found my car speedo reads slightly under the actual speed of travel. I have found it useful when travelling on strange roads, however ...
