This helicopter doesn't fly properly for very long

Advantages: Cheap, good and stable when it works
Disadvantages: Doesn't last long, becomes very unstable

Not quite sure which version this one is meant to be. Mine is V2, without the round circular piece of plastic around the blades, and a plug-in charger. These are fun for a while, but something seems to go wrong with them. The first one I had probably got crashed a few too many times while I was learning how to handle it. But I bought another one (about £20) as I could fly it without crashing much. But that one didn't last very long at all. It was ...
...of trim to stop it whirling in circles. You have to press the trim button about a hundred times to stop it - so I end up wasting most of the flight time trying to get it stable - by which time the battery has run down and it begins getting unstable due to that! The first one lasted way longer than the second one. So maybe there's just good and bad ones. But I'm not going to waste any more money on these. I'll get a better quality one for a bit more ...

the voltimer is a excellecnt first rc build

Advantages: large and light, great first rc build
Disadvantages: A little expensive

The Voltimer is an ultimate vintage and great for those who want the thrill of r/c. The Voltimer is another one of Airsail's great planes where you can either get the kitset that includes the Jamara pro 400 motor and gearbox. Or you can get the model without the motor and gearbox and buy your own or just use it as a free flight plane. The Voltimer is huge compared to the Auster and CT4 with a wingspan of over 1100mm. It maybe big but the Voltimer ...

The robot that responds like a temperamental toddler!

Advantages: Fun, voice activated robot with a range of functions
Disadvantages: Very temperamental, difficult to assemble, falls apart easily

...from a well-established brand as Meccano should have these sorts of basic faults. My son was delighted to own a robot that responded to the sound of his voice (in spite of its temperamental nature) but I would certainly not have been happy to have paid much more than the £15 I managed to get this for. If you can get this for £20 or less it might be worth your while but I certainly wouldn't advise paying any more than this, given the number of flaws ...

I Smell A Rat

Advantages: Good range of movement
Disadvantages: Poor play time between charges

Every time we went into Hawkins Bazaar I saw the Natural History Museum branded radio controlled flipping rat and was dying to buy it for my cat to play with but was put off by the price tag of £19.99. A few weeks ago the rat was reduced to just £4.99 in the sale and being a complete sucker for a bargain I could not resist taking it home. When I told my daughter and nephew (aged 12 and 11) what I had bought they were massively excited and could not ...
...The toy comes in two parts. The first part is a lifesized black rat with a long black tail and little black whiskers. I was expecting him to be furry from the picture on the box but his body is made of hard plastic with moulded fur and his eyes, ears, and toes painted on. It does look fairly realistic, especially from a distance, certainly realistic enough to fool my kitty but then he is not known for his massive brain power. Underneath his body ...
