Silverlit Micro Picooz Helicopter

Advantages: Ease of use, spare parts easily obtained, Great fun for children and adults
Disadvantages: Shame it doesn't run for very long.

When you first see this helicopter, you may well think that it doesn't look very robust, but on trying it out; I couldn't believe how many knocks it took with no breakages whatsoever, it just keeps on going. I bought one for my husband, but now we are both hooked. So believe me they are not just for kids. If you want to chill out for a while, this is a great way to do it, flying this little helicopter around your lounge, choosing where you want to ...
...your landing, (I've managed both from inside the uplighter, took a little practise though)! negotiating obstacles, ie: pets, (even my cat likes to join in the fun, she tries to swat the helicopter in the air as it flies past). The radio control is easy to use, You'll love it. ...

This helicopter doesn't fly properly for very long

Advantages: Cheap, good and stable when it works
Disadvantages: Doesn't last long, becomes very unstable

Not quite sure which version this one is meant to be. Mine is V2, without the round circular piece of plastic around the blades, and a plug-in charger. These are fun for a while, but something seems to go wrong with them. The first one I had probably got crashed a few too many times while I was learning how to handle it. But I bought another one (about £20) as I could fly it without crashing much. But that one didn't last very long at all. It was ...
...of trim to stop it whirling in circles. You have to press the trim button about a hundred times to stop it - so I end up wasting most of the flight time trying to get it stable - by which time the battery has run down and it begins getting unstable due to that! The first one lasted way longer than the second one. So maybe there's just good and bad ones. But I'm not going to waste any more money on these. I'll get a better quality one for a bit more ...

I Smell A Rat

Advantages: Good range of movement
Disadvantages: Poor play time between charges

Every time we went into Hawkins Bazaar I saw the Natural History Museum branded radio controlled flipping rat and was dying to buy it for my cat to play with but was put off by the price tag of £19.99. A few weeks ago the rat was reduced to just £4.99 in the sale and being a complete sucker for a bargain I could not resist taking it home. When I told my daughter and nephew (aged 12 and 11) what I had bought they were massively excited and could not ...
...The toy comes in two parts. The first part is a lifesized black rat with a long black tail and little black whiskers. I was expecting him to be furry from the picture on the box but his body is made of hard plastic with moulded fur and his eyes, ears, and toes painted on. It does look fairly realistic, especially from a distance, certainly realistic enough to fool my kitty but then he is not known for his massive brain power. Underneath his body ...

Getting all steamy with Thomas!

Advantages: Realistic, safe steam
Disadvantages: Auto-off can be confusing for the child.

The evolution of children's toys will, I think, never cease to amaze me. However, there are some toys and characters that seem to be ingrained in every child's life and, for young boys, Thomas the Tank Engine and other trains seem never to lose their popularity. Following a trip to a local miniature railway my son developed that familiar toddler fascination with steam trains and viewing of Thomas the Tank Engine only served to cement this love. It ...
...toy on the reduced shelf in Tesco. My son's birthday was approaching and so I took a look. The remote control steam and sound Thomas has to be one of the best Thomas toys that I've come across. What appears, at first, to be a basic Thomas model is, in fact, so much more. Sound effects and "real" steam make for an exciting remote control toy. Thomas is operated via a simple infra-red remote control. There are just two directional controls - forwards ...

Review of Tomy Radio Control Steam & Sounds Thomas

Very Fun

Advantages: does many functions
Disadvantages: remote takes getting used to and it doesnt pick up things all the time

This is very fun although very confusing. Very strongly built and enjoyable, does many things including walks, picks things up, dances and just things to make you laugh. Whenever we have young children in the house the first thing they ask is where is the robot and they will sit and play with it for ages as they are so amsused by its features. The only problem with it is there are alot of buttons on the remote and one button does two functions so ...
