Several years ago they introduced a new scheme where you could rent equipment for a period of time ( abouth 3 years) and at the end of that time the equipment is yours. A good idea on paper but not when you think that most electrical equipment does not lst more than 5 years these days, so in the early years of th equipments lifeit is covered by Radio Rentals but once it comes to the end of its life the repair costs are all yours. Advantages: quick delivery Disadvantages: expensive, don't leave you alone
...and VCR and thought that Radio Rentals might be just the place to help me out and they did. Within a week of signing the contract (which was not as easy as it sounds as they do their credit check of the electrical roll - if you have just moved - very difficult to get credit!) I had my TV and VCR delivered.
The cheak started here. I had the stuff delivered to my front door - not to my flat which is in the third floor. Apparantly that was not part ...

Advantages: Initial deal was good Disadvantages: The rest was dire
’s lucky number. Anyway, we phoned up RadioRentals and yes we could get it fixed for free. Only catch was they would charge us £50 to either collect it or send someone out to fix it. Bit of a con but was said we’d bring it in ourselves and to be fair to RadioRentals they let us take it to a shop that was easier to get to than where we bought it. One taxi and £4 later it was in the shop. After a week in the shop the TV was fixed and yet another taxi and yet another £4 later it was back at the house and working.
All was fine and dandy for a month or so and then last week the TV started doing the same thing, only this time it was out of warranty. Remembering how much RadioRentals wanted just to pick the TV up we hit the yellow pages in search of someone local. Yesterday they turned up (Which was when they were supposed to ...
Advantages: Change when you like. Disadvantages: Changing name
I have worked for RadioRentals for over three years and we have just gone through a merger with Granada Home technology. The new name is called Boxclever.
We lauch our store in March as Boxclever.
I myself has never rented but if i found myself with no money at least you don't need no deposit unlike Currys , Comet etc.
All we ask for is one month in advance and an admin fee of £20.00
There is more of a range of goods now than what the previous person said in their opinion.
As for "We've never heard of D.VDs) well all I can say is we were waiting until the recordable DVDs were launched.
Now that we have them in the shop people complain they are too expensive. Only because they want to pay Bush or Matsui prices, you only get what you pay for.
We deal in Sony Wega Flat Screen T.Vs, Sanyo Flat Screen, Panasonic Flatscreen ...
Advantages: None Disadvantages: Read the small print and beware
My Cousin was foolish enough to rent a TV in 1988. In 2002 she became a victim of dementia. For some time we have tried to cancel a direct debit from Boxclever but neither the bank nor Boxclever will do anything because my cousin has not instructed them. So she pays 21.5 pounds a month for a twenty year old TV which is not working and while she is in a rest home. What kind of company would do this to an elderly person unable to do anything. Boxclever is the Finance arm of Granada and RadioRentals. Clearly there is a need for people to understand that there is no room for any variation of such contracts with these companies. (By the way because we have a TV we have to pay an annual license fee!) ...
