Advantages: great tales Disadvantages: few. bit simplistic
...This is a book perfect for reading by children or more escapist adults. It is a step onward from Harry Potter and is nearer to Aesop than many writers have been in the past. It is a collection of short chapters, each of which is a little moral tale in itself and which is beautifully written in tentative and subtle prose. The action unfurls in a circus and each chapter bears the name of one of the animals and Schami goes on to liken an aspect of humankind which is similar to that of the animal in question. It is innovative and not tiring. I recommend this book for a little bit of playful bedtime reading for anyone who enjoys a good yarn....
