Advantages: Nice LED lights Disadvantages: Unreliable, corrupts all data suddenly and stops working for no reason
This was the first IcyBox hard drive case I bought for my brand new hard drive about five years ago. It has worked for about two years then it damaged all my data, folder, pictures, documents and everything else that was important on my hard drive. Then the box decided to go on strike and not work altogether. I had to format my hard drive losing everything on it and I felt pretty angry. But I thought technology / computer stuff can sometimes be unreliable, ... ...years ago I saw the newer version of IcyBox that looked so sleek and nice with the blue LED, so decided to give it another try and put my hard drive in as you would do. Then it worked fine. BUT about another two years later it disappointed me once more. When I went to Germany about three years ago I saw the newer version of IcyBox that looked so sleek and nice with the blue LED, so decided to give it another try and put my hard drive in as you would do. Then it worked fine. BUT about another two years later it disappointed me once more. The LED lights was on when I turned the box on, but nothing came up on my computer, but when I plugged the hard drive in the computer instead all the data and folders were still there (thank God, but I also backed up everything. Learned my lesson from the previous time). So guess what...yes, that second IcyBox is broken again.
I will never trust them again and I would not recommend to potential buyers unless you have too much money to waste.
