The game's storyline follows a new Rainbow team that is dispatched to Las Vegas, Nevada to defeat Irena Morales' (internationally wanted terrorist) massive army of mercenaries that is repeatedly attacking key locations in the city.
Rainbow Six Vegas is a first person shooter developed and published by Ubisoft. You take on the role of newly appointed Rainbow Lead Logan Keller, with two squadmates, Gabriel Nowak and Kan Akahashi. The plot begins (don't worry i won't be going into detail as all my reviews are spoiler free) with the squad assigned a misson to a Mexican border town in the year 2010, there mission is to arrest a key Terrorist Irena Morales who is the ringleader of a Terror Cell. After this mission the fun really begins as the squad finds themselves sent to Las Vegas to protect the city from siege after siege of terrorist attacks.
The gameplay has been vastly improved from previous Rainbow installments. Firstly the new health regeneration system which is similar to games like Call of Duty and Gears of War. If you take a hit, the screen darkens forcing minimal visibility and forces you to take cover, over a period of time ( this time is longer than the like of Call of Duty) your health regenerates and you can see again. If you continue to be hit, you die and start again from the last checkpoint.
Secondly, a third person view has been used for instances when you are taking cover behind walls, cars, pillars and so on and the player can then choose whether or not to take aim, or simply suppress the targets using blind fire. You can also throw grenades from behind cover. Other smaller developments include context sensitive commands which can be issued using the d-pad very similar to the Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter system, you point at the ground, press it and your team will move into position. Also using the d-pad you can issue commands such as room clearance with a choice to just enter and clear, blow the door off and clear, or grenade/smoke/flash and clear so you can tackle each situation differently.
The development team this time around decided to have cut scenes in the game rather than a small window appear and a video is fed through keeping you up to date. This time cut scenes are used to deepen the story line and make the players become emotionally attached to the characters and story. Vegas is the first game in the series where weapons can be obtained from dead enemies. With over 40 real world weapons you can choose your load out before a level so you can customise the experience to how you play, if you want to go in all guns blazing take a belt fed M249 Saw ( a light machine gun) or if your going to do it ninja style, something a bit more subtle such as a MP5sd ( a silenced sub machine gun). There is also a higher concentration of enemies and the A.I has been re-vamped which makes you really think and on the hardest difficulty setting it gets tough!
As for gameplay it is very smooth, played from a first person perspective it helps you feel very involved in the action, as i mentioned before it has a certain tactical element to it which involves you telling your squad what to do as in clearing rooms, whether they should hold there fire when an enemy is spotted or if they should use silenced weapons. Like i said, most controls are context sensitive which is good as you have less things to remember as it all tells you on screen what it is you are going to do. This is no run and gun shooter, you need to think of your actions and consequences.
Example, your preparing to storm a room where a group of terrorists have a female hostage, they are going to kill her. Do you tell your men to stack up beside the door, flash and clear and let them do the killing the way they want, remember they don't know where abouts the terrorists are positioned in that room. Or do you creep to the door, and place a camera underneath it, and you tell your team who to take out and in what order, and is it best to use a smoke grenade to disorientate the enemies? Those kinds of decisions you will find your self facing many times during the game.
Graphically this game is stunning with realistic physics which damage the environment and the textures are some of the best i have seen. There is also a degree of motion blur as you run through the beautifully lit streets of Las Vegas which makes it stunning to look at. All the animations from reloading your weapons to your squad taking cover are very fluid and there is no hint of slow down at all.
Sound again is brilliant, just what you expect from a critically acclaimed series. The sound effects ranging from bullets cracking plaster, brass bullet casings bouncing off walls to the whiz of bullets are all fantastic and make you duck as you play! The voice acting is also very good and its clever how your team interact as they go around the levels always communicating on enemy positions and they even give you heads up. You hear them shout small things like 'Grenade get down' or 'Keller! Get to cover' which adds to the very realistic atmosphere this game creates.
The single player is quite lengthy and on the harder difficulty will take a decent amount of time to finish. But this game really does have a special multi player experience. Firstly the player can fully customise what they character uses in terms of equipment and weapons and what type of combat uniform and protection they use. As you progress through the online games you earn points on your performance and with this you gain ranks which unlock more powerful weapons and more options to tweak in terms of what armour you wear etc. There are currently ten multi player game modes; Survival, Team Survival, Sharpshooter, Team Sharpshooter, Retrieval, Co-op Terrorist Hunt, as well as four new modes, Attack & Defend, Co-op Campaign, Assassination, and Conquest which are new to the series. 16 players can play in one server at a time which is a decent number.
Overall this is a very positive game and it is pointed Rainbow Six in a new direction of realism and engrossing play. Which is only a good thing. I would recommend this game to any fan of the series or anyone who is looking for a very rewarding first person shooter which requires you to think.
Advantages: relaxing, good graphic. Disadvantages: quite hard.
Mid December last year, Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six: Vegas had been released right after the release of its brother Lockdown in the beginning of the year. Just as usual, Vegas land on Xbox first (which makes PC or other consoles fans disappointed because they have to wait for long time before the same version appears on their consoles).
Gamespot immediately gave Rainbow Six Vegas 8.7 (out of 10) without any hesitation. The point which is in dream of ... ...has achieved a great success with their series.
In the single player’s campaign, you’ll be Logan Keller, leader of a special squad of three, fighting against terrorism. They started the mission just after failing to take the terrorists down in Mexico. For some reason, they change their target to casinos and big hotels in Las Vegas. First objective for player is preventing loss and find out about their plan. Gradually, some clue led you to discover ...

Advantages: Great single player and multiplayer, really good sound and graphics. Disadvantages: none that I can think of
...I also decided to buy Tom clancys Rainbow six vegas as I had heard some good things about it. I have to say though that what I heard didn't justify just how good this game is. At the time I think I bought it from gamestation, I can't remember how much though but I seem to remeber to think that it wasn't much as the game is quite old now. Game modes
Rainbow six vegas had a very good single player mode. The first mission is not in vegas it looks to ... ...get to work in Las Vegas. In las vegas you do a number of missions in casinos and on the streets or even one of the missions I've completed started off on top of a chinese restaurant. I have single player mode between about 4-6 hours already and think there is alot more to come. So far though I have to say that Rainbow six's single player campaign is amazing.
Multiplayer or online mode is excellent on Rainbow six. You can play up to 15 people in ...

Well this was the first time I played one of these games it was on offer so I said to myself why not. I must say that I have not been disappointed this game is great fun and surprisingly addictive.
It all started with my journey through the single player missions of the game.
Number 1 Mexico Streets
So mission 1 first impressions were good, the graphics were impressive and accidentally throwing a smoke grenade proved that the smoke effect was ... ...to use the hide and peek manoeuvre, zoom, night and heat vision those sorts of things.
There did seem to be a lot of dying however as I tried to hide and then look round the corner and instead just ran out and got shot, but unperturbed I continued. At about halfway I was given access to new guns, now being and idiot I opted for a sniper rifle and a shotgun. So I was very good at killing people far away and those really close anything else not so ...

Advantages: Awesome graphics, extremely playable, great online playability, PEC Disadvantages: Crashes quite reguarly on xbox live matches, misleading packaging
Having recently purchased an xbox 360 and played this game for approximately 2 months; I can safely say this is equal, if not better than, Gears of War. This game is brilliant fun in the single player campaign, in which it is possilbe to play cooperatively with one other player on the same system. The campaign follows the story of an elite counter-terroist team; and has a rich storyline which can easily be followed.
In single player mode the graphics ... ...flank you, grenade you and take cover!). In single player mode there are 6 levels. Although this does not sound like many, each one takes a long time to complete as it is made up of many parts; think 6 episodes with numerous chapters in each! The six levels are as follows: Mexican Streets - This is the equivalent of the training mission, since althought it is challenging at first, it allows the player to geta grip of the controls before really throwing ...

Tom Clancys Rainbow Six is now the sixth edition of the renown games. You are part of a new team assembled to take back Las Vegas from a group of terrorists. From the first moment you play this game you can tell it has been made on the Unreal Engine 3.0. This is probably the best gaming engine for the next-gen games.
The new Rainbow Six game has undergone many changes. Some more obvious than others like the game-play changing from a first person ... ...for the cinematic cutscenes. This is instead shown through planning your moves ahead. Also, you very much rely on cover to generate your health back up, this is very similar to the Halo 2 and Gears of War health system.
Now Ubisoft have enhanced the oppositions artificial intellegence, therfore making it a much harder game to complete. I also believe that they have included fewer enemies. If all you like to do is pump round after round of bullets ...

Advantages: Gorgeous graphics, intuitive opponents Disadvantages: Single player game a little on the short side
I know it's odd, but the original RainbowSixVegas game did absolutely nothing for me; not that it was a bad game by any stretch of the imagination, there just seemed to be other games I wanted to play more at the time it was released, and thus it passed me by. To that end I'm not overly sure why I found myself loading the sequel into my Xbox360's drive, but I am mightily glad I did. TomClancy's RainbowSix: Vegas 2 is a sharp, intelligent and addictive game which I had trouble tearing myself away from once I started playing.
So what's the game all about then?
In a nutshell you run around Las Vegas shooting the baddies and rescuing hostages, simple enough. The story centres on team RainbowSix - a multi-skilled task force given the job of halting the evil Alverez Cabrero from hatching his dastardly plan to bring Sin City to ...
Advantages: Nice levelling system, Nice combat system Disadvantages: Prepare to DIE!
The flash-bomb goes in, it goes off in a blinding flash...I burst in and bring the perp down in a hail of hot, fiery justice!
Then from no-where...the three guys who magically appeared behind me find it necessary to blow the back of my head off.
*******
Really, that sums up RainbowSixVegas 2...it doesn't matter how good you are at counter-terrorism simulators...you will die, alot.
The AI in this game, despite being on the lowest difficulty, is far superior to you. At some times I felt I wasn't fighting a well armed terrorist organization made up of fanatic Mexicans, it felt I was fighting a collaboration between the Navy SEALS, The SAS and SPETSNAZ. These guys can almost smell you sneaking up on them through about 4 feet of lead, then find it appropriate to move like a ghost while opening fire with the accuracy ...
Advantages: Brillaint game play, extremely realistic, good graphics, well thought out story line. Disadvantages: none
RainbowSixVegas 2 was the first game that i purchased for Xbox360. Now i have to say, I am not one for first person shooters, but when were talking about this game i have a whole different view point. I was expecting an extremely dissapointing experience but it was quite the opposite. The graphics of this game are some of the best I have ever seen on a games console and it is an extremely realistic game unlike other first person shooters such as Halo 3.
This game is one of the best i have ever played online which meant I was completely addicted.
It has a well laid out story line which is not complicated and monotonous which i have found to be the let down in most other first person shooters.
Another good aspect of the game is the fact that you can hide up against walls and peak round the corner and shoot the enemy before they ...
