Over the years I've bought several different aftershaves from D&G, Fred Perry, Ted Baker, Amor, and FCUK, as well as a couple of others by Ralph Lauren. I am by no means a connoisseur on the subject - if there is such a thing - but I'd like to think that by now I know the difference between a decent aftershave and one of the best.

I bought Polo Black for the first time in a Duty Free, for what was a predictably decent price. Since then I've bought several more bottles from a variety of places, and they always seem available at a relatively good price, especially when compared to any other aftershaves that catch my interest.

The smell is sweet but not sickly, refreshing, and above all versatile - whether you're just popping out to a bar, heading out for the night, on a date, or attending a proper do, it will suit the occasion. It isn't overly fancy (a la Jaguar's foray into the aftershave market) and it's not too understated - just right, and whenever I have a sniff round other samples in a shop they really don't compare.

And most importantly, I can say with 100% certainty that it does improve your chances...!
