Advantages: Holds the record/Loud output/Long life/Easy to put onto cartridge Disadvantages: None that I can think of
...and this happens in some clubs.
This is extreemly imortant because since the Ortofon "scratch" styluses hold so well, you can put less weight on the the turntable arm; keeping the stylus on the record.
This means you won't wear out the record as easily
(less weight on the turntable arm = less wear on the record)
Also, if you put too much weight on the arm, the sound quality will diminish.
As I'm sure you know, turning the base of the arm clockwise and counter-clockwise makes the arm go up and down.
I would recommend setting it near the bottom (at home) and in the middle
(in clubs)
Sound:
Again, high output... Good quality sound/wide EQ range/clear
Final note:
However, I do NOT use these styluses anymore.
If you are not using Serato (DJ sofware) by now, you must be living under a rock...
Ortofon has a new "digital" needle...

...I bought my wine red Les Paul Standard 10 years ago (approx). It was my first professional quality instrument and just by playing and owning it, I felt as though my ability had jumped by a factor of 10 and my instant rock star pose value just shot off the scale. Plus, the most under-rated guitarist, from one of the best rock bands of all time played one – Scott Gorham of Thin Lizzy. Nowadays, Slash from GNR plays one that looks almost identical.
It cost me £600 at the time !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Playing in a punk/RnB outfit meant that the LP looked a bit “Rolls Royce” for the Damned/Sex Pistols/Dr Feelgood covers we were kicking out, so to punk it up a bit I took the scratch plate off. This made it look really cool although stupidly I’ve since lost all trace of the dang thing………D’OH...

Advantages: Makes Guitars Sound Better Disadvantages: ????????????????????????
.... Like everything to do with guitars I am a great believer of developing your own sound and this is a great beastie to play with and great fun to experiment with. I also firmly believe in simplicity especially when gigging as some of the digital effects processors I have used have been nightmares to use live, this is simple to use and set up and the little light tells you when it is on, rather than flashy numbers.
A dam good pedal with a great reputation and a hell of a lot of fun to use, what more could you want? A three year guarantee? Well you get the as well....
