all-new sci-fi adventure combining
action-platform, exploration,  adventure,
puzzle-solving, strategy, role-playing and racing
into one compelling  experience resulting in
plenty of explosions and devastation. Mr Smiles,
the head of Megacorp, has come up with a fantastic
new product! It's  a super cute creature called
the "Protopet" which he wants to sell to every
house in the galaxy. When the prototype is stolen,
Mr Smiles hires in Ratchet  and Clank to help him
get it back. Slowly they begin to realise that
maybe the  thief isn't necessarily in the wrong,

Ratchet & Clank 2: Locked & Loaded (PS2) - PlayStation2

Ratchet & Clank 2: Locked & Loaded (PS2) - PlayStation2

The first Ratchet & Clank game was the best action platformer the PS2 had had, and now the ... more

dynamic duo are back in Ratchet & Clank 2: Locked
and Loaded (hastily resubtitled for the UK after
the developers realised that the original Going
Commando might imply an entirely different kind of
game experience). After becoming rather bored with
their lot in the aftermath of their victory in the
last game, the now not-so reluctant heroes are
hired as bounty hunters to track down the stolen
Protopet, which looks like the world's cutest pet
but is actually something more sinister. Well, not
really sinister, because it's still cute as a
button, but definitely dangerous. Although the
graphics and controls have had an overhaul for
this sequel, the developers have wisely realised
that the thing everyone enjoyed most from the
first game is the huge number of weapons you get
to use. There are 20 new ones to play with now,
but interestingly nearly all of them can be
upgraded and customised for different features and
more power. Not only that but the new role-playing
element even extends to Ratchet himself--he can
improve his own abilities as he goes. As well as
all that the game has got even more variety than
before, with tons of mini-games including
hoverbike races and spaceship dogfights. There are
also a lot more levels in which you get to control
Clank in his gigantic killer-robot mode. It might
not be all that original but it's fun and good
looking and has a surprisingly witty script. All
in all, it's top stuff. --David Jenkins

Ratchet goes RPG? Review with images

AdvantagesReplayability = value for money

DisadvantagesSometimes a bit too linear

"...to the original. STORYLINE After Drek’s defeat, Ratchet and Clank became minor celebrities, and are now bumming around on Veldin. They are kidnapped by Fizzwidget, who wants to train Ratchet up to commando level, so he can help him retrieve a stolen experiment from the hooded stranger. However, the stranger steals back the experiment and hires Thugs-4-Less, alien bodyguards, to help him defeat Ratchet. There are plenty of twists and turns, so ..." Read review

You're A Big Fat Liar But That's Okay Review with images

AdvantagesBrain Intoxicatingly Good Fun For Both Young And Old

DisadvantagesSome Minor Niggles, Can Be Difficult In Parts

"...play them. Quick little plot synopsis. Ratchet (a fuzzy, fox like creature with a tail called a Lombax) met up with Clank (umm... a robot) and before they both knew it, they were on a personal mission to save not only Ratchet's home planet, but the galaxy from the evil Blargians headed by the even evil-er Chairman Drek (or in other words, to save the forest from the tree cutters). In true superhero fashion, he saves the day and so on and so forth. ..." Read review

Ratchet's Back! - And This Time He Means Business

AdvantagesHuge fun, suitable for everyone, good quality

DisadvantagesRushed, very similar to number 1

"Ratchet and Clank was, without a doubt, my favourite game of all time. The standard of animation, ease of game play and sheer sense of fun left the competition standing for many gaming months. There are, however, only a certain number of times that you can play even the best of games before they start to wear thin. But Insomniac Games were quick to realise the need to satisfy “Ratchet Thirst” and a sequel was delivered in phenomenally ..." Read review

Ratchet and Clank 2: Locked & Loaded

AdvantagesGameplay, controls and humour.

DisadvantagesNo multiplayer.

"...up words were actually real. Ratchet and Clank provide the sarcasm and subtle humour though which is far funnier-which goes with the story which is full of twists and turns and is fun alone just to unravel. ~Gameplay~ The gameplay is very similar to the first game really since the big change does not come here-because there are changes to the game still. However, you still fly to different cities, all on different planets-tracking down the ..." Read review

Ratchet and Clank 2: Locked and Loaded

AdvantagesMore of the same but with a lot of extra types of gameplay thrown in

DisadvantagesMore of the same but with a lot of extra types of gameplay thrown in

"... Anyway after a short intro, Ratchet and Clank are then hired as bounty hunters to track down a cute little blue furry thing called a Protopet. It looks harmless but unfortunately is actually quite deadly. With different organisations fighting over who’s going to own it, you fit somewhere in the middle by helping both. The jokes are back although this time I found them a little tiring. They seem to be exactly the same as what was in the first game ..." Read review
