Back in 2002, a game was created that has never really been seen before. The game combined the longevity and puzzle elements of a platformer, with the firepower of a shooter. Ratchet and clank was born, and the series of games since have never really deviated from the original blueprint. At the end of the day, if a thing isn't broke, then why fix it?
So, our favourite (and only.) lombax, and robot duo are back, for one more outing. What exactly a lombax is, I dont know but the closest thing I could compare him to is a fox. Size matters, is the first time that the duo have ventured onto the portable consoles. I can say that the conversion has been a happy one, and none of the fun or excitment of its big console twins has been lost. In this installment, our two heroes are on the beach, on holiday. A young girl fan finds them, and asks to see ratchet being heroic. As he responds to her request, she is kidnapped and they set off after her. There are several other plot twists, which I will not spoil, but be satisfied that the plot is up to scratch. Gameplay is consistant with the other games of the series. So, for the newby, ratchet has a large wrench with which he can hit things, turn things, or throw at things. He can run in any direction, he can swing on things, and he collects bolts, which are the games equivalent of money. You can use these to buy new weapons. These range from simple lasers, right through to concussion guns, little robots that you can fire out, and many more. Along your way, and dependant on your experience, these weapons upgrade making them stronger. You also gain life points, up to a maximum of fifty. Gameplay is good, and is not hindered by the PSP's controls. There are a lot of moves packed into, what is essentially a kid's game. But the PSP copes admirably. Not only do they controls live up to the PS2, and PS3 versions, but in many ways they improve on it. The only real let down, is the camera controls. But, given the PSP's limited control system it is hard to imagine how it could have been done better. The controls system is tight, and the graphics are superb for a handheld. The game rarely slows down due to a lot of characters on screen. The game matches the PS2 version almost exactly. Therefore it is a superb game on the PSP. It cuts fluently between cut-scenes, and gameplay. The whole game plays like one big story. You can explore very large areas, and the only slight disappointment is that it loses a lot of detail when you go too far from something. SFX are ok. The sound has been taken, almost directly from the PS2. Although it does a job, it is not as satisfying as it could be. It is fit for the purpose, but does not send shivers up and down my spine. The music, is also just ok. Very typical to the series, though. The voice-overs done on the cut-scenes are superb. There is a lot of humour in the game. The cut-scenes are voice acted very well, and they will make you chuckle. The game, overall is a great PSP title. However, the genre is becoming more and more packed. There are a lot of games out there, that are as good, if not better. If push came to shove, I would choose Daxter, which is one of the best PSP titles of all time. On a scale of one to ten, I would give this an eight. Good, solid playability mixed with a bit of humour. But although its good, its not great. Can be bought quite cheaply now, as it has gone platinum. I would still say its one you should have in your collection.
Reccommended. G

Advantages: Gameplay, lifespan, Graphics Disadvantages: Too easy, repetitive
Ratchet and Clank: Size Matters has most of the basic gameplay elements from the other Ratchet and Clank games (Some on other formats) The weapons are similar from previous games in the series except for the Up your Arsonal. Weapons can gain experience, and mods that are similar to the ones in Gladiator can be purchased for weapons. Several locked doors require Ratchet to use a shrink ray and then complete a "grind lock" course, dodging mines on ... ...doors.
Through the game, Ratchet will collect armor pieces for four different sets of armor, including the two secret sets in "challenge mode". While Ratchet can mix and match any of the four parts (helmet, body armor, gloves and boots) between any of the sets of armor, collecting and wearing each piece of armor in a set gives Ratchet an additional advantage; for example, using the full Wildfire suit, Ratchet's wrench will set his enemies on fire ...

Introduction
Ratchet and Clank, one of my favourite game series by Insomniac. After I had completed all of the four Ratchet and Clank games for Playstation 2 (inluding Ratchet : Gladiator) I heard that there was one coming out for the PSP. I couldnt wait. It was a VERY long wait, but when it got to 11th May 2007, I rushed to the shop and bought the 5th Ratchet game. All of my friends were jealous! Anyway, want to know more about the game? Read on...
... ...the previous games of the Ratchet series, so if your a big fan of the Lombax and his buddy clank then I suggest that you get this game.
There is ALOT to do in Size Matters, although the game itself may be a bit short (getting to the boss and whooping his butt) but when you defeat the final boss, you have the option to play the boss again, or start the whole game again with the opportunity to upgrade your weapons, get all of the equipment / gadgets, ...

Advantages: Fast paced fun and adventerous Disadvantages: i dont like the background music
Ratchet and Clank on the ps2 was great fun and probably one of the best platformers i have ever played, amongst the league of crash bandicoot. I first was sceptical of playing the game on the PSP but thought i should give it a go. I soon found out the game is worth every penny and it definately is a lot of fun. However i did tend to get frustrated in certain parts of the game, but thats just a sign its truely testing and worth the effort. the graphics ... ...probably beats a lot of the games i have played on the psp so far. the cutscenes have been made really well and this game is definately a lot of fun and worth the money. so BUY IT! the only thing i do not like is the background music which winds me up, but that was easily turned off ...

Advantages: Addicitve, never bored when completed game, concepts of weapons Disadvantages: Too easy as a game, storyline does getter rather boring
Ratchet and Clank has always been one of the addictive platformers on the PS2 and it doesn't really disappoint as it makes its first game entry on the PSP. The concept of playing Ratchet & Clank in PS2 style graphics portable, that idea itself is a beautiful one. The gameplay is great, moving from planet to planet exploring and obtaining new weapons and gadgets, and the quirky and slightly dry humour storyline, along with the array of colours that ...

Advantages: Its the best game on PSP to date Disadvantages: The game is 7+ so little kids cant enjoy this excellent game
Ratchet and Clank: Size Matters. I just got this game the other week and I think this must be in the top 5 games for PSP i would give it 9.8 out of 10 it is that good. An if you liked Ratchet and Clank 1 and 2 on PS2 what are you waiting for this is the game for you. So here is a bit about the game there are 13 different weapons in the game that are all very different you can upgrade them by using them alot which makes the game alot more fun. There ... ...your travels to the different planets. Also on this game there is alot of different armour you can pick up there are seven different sets all together if you manage to get the, helmet, body, gloves and boots of the same set you get like a more powerful wrench attack. For example if you get the hole set of electroshock armour your wrench can send a shock wave across the floor which can hurt your enemies. After you complete the game 3 times you should ...

mode helps a little with slaying screenfuls of foes, but the combat is still as lifeless as jr's own skull-cloaked dad and all about mindless slashing and woolly shooting. Using items like exploding mine carts to bash through barriers, and seeking out ledges in levels that traverse the darkness of hell, is nicely enough done. But there's none os the polish supperior PSP platformers like ratchet and clank: sizematters. Death jr's done a bit of growing up, but he's not ready to join the big boys just yet......
