the Old Ones - monstrous godlike beings once banished from our world - are trying to return. Matt is about to discover that he alone stands between the forces of evil and the annihilation of humanity.
Advantages: A good plot Disadvantages: Catagorized as a childs book
This was one of my sisters books that I couldn't resist reading. I was intrigued by the name and it seemed to look pretty decent from the cover. I was really into this book by the time it got going. This was one of my sisters books that I couldn't resist reading. I was intrigued by the name and it seemed to look pretty decent from the cover. I was really into this book by the time it got going. You follow a character called Matt that always seems to be in trouble, he's lost his parents and lives with his aunt that really doesn't seem to care at all. After yet another crime, Matt is caught by the police and questioned. He is then told he will be entering a program that is set to put him on the right path. He's taken to the country, where everyone seems simple and incredibly boring. But Matt finds out this is most certainly not the case. As he works at he farm for an evil woman and her idiotic side kick, he finds that life in Yorkshire is not what meets the eye, and people he thinks are his friends are infact under the bewitching eye of the town and helping Matt figure out what is going on, is bad for their health. If you or your children enjoy bewitching alternative plots you will love this book. It has the rare gift of being able to cater to adults and children because of its plot twists and strange characters. My mum purchased the audio CD of this for a car journey and I thoroughly enjoyed it, listening to a book being read is completely different to reading it yourself and it gave me the chance to experience the plot almost first hand in a way. I hadn't really listened to very many audio books before this one and I was pleasantly surprised. You get to go into your own little world and imagine the story happening in your head. I would recommend that you read the book yourself first because then you can really understand what is happening and can account for stopping and starting the tape. Also, hearing a book twice makes you come across things that you may have missed the first times, and they can almost help you piece together parts of the plat that you forgot were there.

Advantages: You meet all different worlds with a great plot ` Disadvantages: Not as scary as you thought
Nightrise is a novel by AnthonyHorowitz, and is the third book in "The power of five" series, after "Evil Star" and "Raven's Gate".
Unlike the two books preceding it, this book follows Scott and Jamie Tyler, telepathic twins. I find this strange to have two of the five in one book, because it was one per book in the other two.
Although the book is about both Jamie and Scott, Scott plays only a very small role, and speaks even less (15 lines at the most), but that may be due to the fact he was kidnapped (always helps people say less).
I find this book to be less scary and supernatural than the other two, which is strange, because the front cover looks very evil (but don't judge a book by it's cover).
In this book, the timeline starts to get a little confusing, especially as there are actually three worlds that the story takes ...
