This is the second 1000 piece Ravensburger that I have purchased since rekindling my interest in puzzles. I was keen to buy another puzzle after completing the Concorde and Red Arrows one that I have previously reviewed. I chose this particular puzzle for a number of different, but equally important reasons. I will try and make clear the thing that made me buy the puzzle in the following paragraphs.
The first is that I have been very impressed with the quality of the puzzles that Ravensburger produce. The individual puzzle pieces are very strong and sturdy, giving them a great deal of durability. It means that they will stay in a good condition for much longer and you can get years of use out of the puzzle. They are reasonably thick, giving them their strength, but they aren't too thick to make the puzzle awkward to put together. They are made from recycled paper, so it is an extremely 'green' puzzle, one for all of you environmentalists to get excited about.
The next factor that influenced my purchase of another Ravensburger puzzle was the design or picture that the puzzle makes when it is put together. They sell some puzzles that form really fantastic pictures, very breathtaking and in their own way very captivating. The pictures/paintings give you a really feel for what they are trying to capture and you do in some ways feel a part of it.
The overall presentation of Ravensburger puzzles is another thing that I am really impressed with. The packaging is very simple in many ways, but more than effective at doing what it is designed for. It clearly shows the puzzle design on the front, helping you to complete it and the traditional border runs right around the edge of the box. I think that Ravensburger, as a company, take great care in producing the best quality products for their customers and aim to give 100% satisfaction.
This puzzle was very enjoyable to make, much easier than the Concorde and Red Arrows puzzle that was a painting. The individual pieces had much clearer and more visible picture on them, making the puzzle that much easier. It was still relatively difficult because many pieces did look the same in their colour but identifying which area of the puzzle they belonged to was made much easier.
The puzzle was just £5.99 from ASDA, which in my humble opinion, is not just a bargain but an absolutely great buy. It is about the cheapest that I think you are likely to get a puzzle of this size and quality for, anywhere in the shops or on the internet. It will also keep you occupied for a good few hours so it also cheap entertainment in a way. I would certainly recommend that you go out and pick one of these up at some point in the near future.
