Razer became famous by selling a mechanical mouse with extra high sensitivity ratings for gamers at a premium and has since produced many other high-endaccessories for the computer.
The eXactMat is exactly what it says on the packaging, extra-large mousing surface with two different feelings, non-slip rubber feet and an optional arm rest that can be a life saver when working or playing games.
I originally ordered it as a working surface, because my wrist was starting to hurt and I saw this mouse pad while I was visiting Germany, although it didn't justify the 50 EUR (35 Pounds) price tag it carried at that time.
The mouse pad is made aluminium with two surfaces. I have carried it back and forth between home and the office many times and it doesn't seem to scratch and bend at all (The optional carrier bag is quite useless).
I prefer to use the mouse on the rough side for more control, although the flat side is good for shooting games. Since it was designed specifically for optical mice, you shouldn't worry that the mouse pointer jumps like other black mouse pads.
Size-wise, it is perfect for graphic designers, because if you have a large monitor, it may require more movement from side to side.
How does this compare to cheaper and more traditional mouse pads? Compared to a cloth or standard hard plastic mouse pad, this will last at least ten times longer.
Compared to other gaming mouse pads made of steel or so, this is a no-brainer because the mousing surface barely scratches, as well as the rubber feet not coming off at all (I had another 20 Pound mouse pad a while back and the mouse feet came off, thus becoming very slippery).
I recommend getting the mousepad+wrist guard combo, although the cloth on the wrist guard might come off after lots of use. It is non-slip, so you can apply as much force to the mouse pad as you like and the only thing that will move is your mouse.
The only down side is that it should have come with a little clip for mouse cabling.

Good review. This could be handy for people like me who have issues with normal small mouse pads (I'm always running out of room, I know I'm weird...) Good idea about the cable clip too,
