When my old edging shears came to the end of their life after 15 years of dutiful service finding an identical replacement was mission impossible as over time the design for the shears made by every manufacturer has changed so that the blades face downwards rather than sideways, an angle I had always found much easier and less frustrating.
The purpose of the edging shears is to cut the grass that sticks out from the lawn overhanging into the border areas of the garden, thus when finished the edges of the lawn should look razor sharp. These are not an essential tool but to the keen eyed gardener, by leaving the edges you are committing a cardinal sin. Leave this thought at the front of your mind which I confirm the price paid for the Razor Sharp Edging Shears - £34.99. The reason for the inflated price I hear you ask, because they are part of the World Heritage hand tool range, a company with a long history of producing gardening tools of the highest quality.
The grip poles are a perfect length for me however they are not adjustable so anyone over 6 foot will have issue with the product and will have to bend over to use them. The poles have an absorbent grip that literally makes your hands stick to them reducing the chance of spearing your foot with the blades. On the safety front I can't really grumble but for the price I paid I would have liked to have seen a blade lock for when the shears are stored away just for that added piece of mind should little hands go roaming around the shed.
The blades are razor sharp and make edging a piece of cake. It took a while to get use to the position of the blades and the change in arm technique in comparison to my previous model of shears but after doing one side of the lawn I had really got to grips with it and flew around the other 3 sides. The fact that each of the metal components are rust resistant are a real bonus, especially the blades as these come into contact with damp grass on a regular basis but overall I am pleased with the Razor Sharp Lawn Shears and would recommend them to all gardeners out there.

Nice review, beats bending down or on your knees. A garden shed makes a good refuge doesn't it. (I have a boy and a girl who fight like cat and dog). Regards, Gary.
