Tesco Mince Pies Are Great! Advantages: tasty, looks nice, smells good Disadvantages: the calories.. Tesco mince pies are scrumptious!! First of all, I brought these last Saturday and I could not wait to get home to try one! They were only around 70p and I thought this was an absolute bargain! Mince pies like these only come out at Christmas so it is quite a shame really because they are lovely! The Packaging As would be expected these mince pies come in packs of sixes and they are in a plastic tray with the foil cases which is handy as they get ... ...in the mood. The Product The actual mince pies are lovely. I prefer these to any other sort because, the pastry is not too heavy, it is sprinkled with sugar on top, there is a pastry star design and the mince is not hard like I have found in some other mince pies! It is nice and thick but not solid. Why buy these over other brands? Yummy Advantages: delicious, cheap... Disadvantages: only available around xmas From the Tesco Christmas range comes.... What are they? Just as the packet states "sweet shortcrust pasty cases filled with sweet mincemeat and topped with a soft icing" These are by far the best and most original mince pies I've ever tasted. The pastry is moist,soft and sweet to taste. Unlike most mince pies these have no pastry "top" as it were, instead they are topped with a devine layer of sweet white icing. The icing compliments the sweet ... ...taste in your mouth! What's in them? Mincemeat, fondant, wheat flour, vegetable oil, sugar, milk protein, salt , raising agent, emulsifier, colour. Get your pasties out! Advantages: Tastes great, quality product and packaging Disadvantages: Calories, price if not on offer Ginsters have a bit of a rep at the moemtn (and for quite a few years now) for being sort of the cream of the crop when it comes to pastried foods. I really like the slices they do, sucha s the Ham & Cheese slice, and the Peppered Steak slice, alothough the price usually makes me restrict myself to whenever they have an offer on them somewhere. The same goes for their Cornish Pasty, and the other day I managed to pick it up on offer for £1, whereas ... ...the high calories, so that can't be too much of a negative, and prcie wise, Ginsters in general seem to have slashed their prices to suppliers, on the agreement this slash is relayed to the consumers. The best fresh pizza's in town Advantages: Excellent choice, easy to cook, very tasty! Disadvantages: Long wait sometimes. Asda's fresh pizza's are excellent. It is as simple as that. Varying from the simple (a 9" with 4 toppings for around £2.30, to a 14" create your own with as many toppings as you would like.) The choice of bases are excellent, with Thin and Crispy, Stonebake, Deep Pan and Stuffed Crust, and the selection of toppings is endless - pepperoni, salmi, sausage, ham, spicy beef, chilli, onions, red onions, peppers, sweetcorn, mushroom, and many more which ... ...as garlic breads, or simply with chees and tomato topping for the less adventurous pizza taster. The pizzas are easy to prepare - just pop them in the oven at 200oC - from around 10 mins for a 9" thin to 16 for a 14" stuffed crust. That was exceedingly good thank you Mr. K Advantages: eat anywhere, anytime hot or cold Disadvantages: go too quickly ...I could not believe that Mr. Kipling apple pies were being sold on ebay for £4.20 not including the postage. Anyway this made me feel peckish and I suddenly remembered that I had bought 2 packs of Mr Kiplings Bramley apple pies - packs of 6 - when I went shopping as they were doing them on special offer of 2 packs for £2.30. So after munching, ummm 2, well I was hungry I decided I would do a dooyoo on them. They used to be advertised on television ... ...pies incase you dont know the ones I am talking about. They are shortcrust pastry cases with Bramley apple filling. They come in a box of 6 and inside they are in their individual trays. Here I had better add that the whole packaging is recyclable.
