Think Tennis and Wimbledon and strawberries and cream are one of the first things that come to mind. To the actual game itself though and it is enjoyable to both play and watch. I still haven't been to Wimbledon even though I live so close. I am hoping to go this year though hopefully!

Tennis is a game played with a strung racket which is used to hit a rubber ball covered with felt over a net. Tennis can be played on grass, hard court and clay surfaces. It can be played in singles format(1v1) or doubles (2v2).
The Court
The lines on the back of the court are called the baselines (at the back of each side) and the service line (middle of the court). The outermost lines at the sides are called the doubles sidelines. These are the boundaries used when doubles is played. The lines on the inside of the doubles sidelines are the singles sidelines and are used as boundaries in singles play. The line that runs through the centre of a player's side of the court is called the service line because the serve must be made into the area between the service line and the net on the other side.
The game
To start a game 1 player serves and the other receives. The serve alternates after each game .A serve is made by hitting the ball over the net (without hitting it) into the diagonally opposite service box. The first player or team to be unable to return the ball legally lose the point. Points are awarded love (0) ,15, 30, 40 . If the scores are 40/40 the score goes to deuce. From this point a player has to get 2 consecutive points to win the game(a sequence of points played with the same player serving). A set is made up of a sequence of games played with serve alternated between games. A specified number of sets is usually required to win a match (usaully best of 3 or 5).
My experience
I have covered most of the basic points of tennis but now will look at my own experience of the sport. I only started playing when I was around 15 when I started playing with a friend who taught me some of the basics. I had watched some tennis before and what you see alot of is the power of the serves and when I first started I tried to hit the ball as hard as I could but didn't have much success as the ball didn't stay in the court much! Once you practice more though you can control the ball a bit more and direct your serve and shots and time them better. I haven't played as much recently as I am more a football player but it is a good sport and I do like to keep in touch with what's going on in the tennis world especially when Wimbledon is on. It's a great sport and quite fun to both play and watch.
I am a fan of Andy Murray and hope he does live up to the hype and we finally get a British player to win Wimbledon even though he is not English.

Tickets for Centre Court in Wimbledon are sold out well in advance for the last four days of the Championships. If you want to get in the Centre Court just to experience the atmosphere, it is possible to get a ticket on the day. Last year, I went to Wimbledon on the last day and got into the Ground for £1. Then, I bought a ticket for Centre Court for just £3. Many people don’t watch all the matches in Centre Court and they leave early. Their used tickets are ‘recycled’ by the organizer and resold at a much-reduced price. Further more, money paid for the recycled tickets is collected for charities. I sat near the Royal Box and watched the whole match of Anna Kournikova playing in Mixed Doubles Final. (She was so stunning in real life!)

Advantages: whiny, arrogant, sulky-- a US success story Disadvantages: obviously doesn't work on a Brit
He got a decent serve, and he moves well on the court, but so do fifty other men's tennis players. Even with the inflated seeding Wimbledon gives him every year he still manages to lose early. I avoid the word 'underachieve' because I don't feel he will ever achieve a title. A finals place seems nearly impossible, and even a semi-finals position now seems remote. Despite the yelling crowds England likes losers. England wants a winner for Wimbledon, sure, but the real problem is that England *tolerates* perpetual losers. Look at other sports. The 'almost good enoughs' are revered. Look to the young for tennis-- there are some hot prospects coming up. The current pros will just continue to disappoint. ...
