All types of reality shows are shown. Personal favourites are the cops-and-robbers type shows, such as 'World's Scariest Police Chases', 'World's Dumbest Criminals', 'World's Scariest Hostage Situations' (Isn't it strange how the title says world yet 95% of incidents take place in America!) and so on.

The channel is well presented and has quite a large variety of shows on offer. There are minimal advertisements, although every so often, shopping programs are broadcast from which items can be bought through a phone line.

Also, programs where a camera crew follow the police or emergency services to various incidents are shown frequently. And this is where I come to a downside. There are TOO many of these shows and they are shown back-to-back, with three (sometimes four!) episodes shown together. An example of this is 'Mounties' set in Canada and also 'Rescue 000'.
Overall, the channel is great viewing and the shows can be quite disturbing, as you realise how many crazy people are out there. Other shows are heart-warming, showing the love and compassion that true-life heroes can possess. Recommended when you want to turn away from some of the fantasy shows and see some harsh reality!
Advantages: Sort your Gaydar, Now! Disadvantages: searching for a needle in a gay stack !
...new to channel 4, this reality programme is destined to be a hit, if only someone shot the guitarist who personally i think sounds like a strangled cat! The basic idea of the programme is one girl, Zoe, is in Mexico to find her one true love. However there is a twist, June, T4's very own, hosts thisincredible, lets say 'love affair.' June springs the plot of the programme on the 10 male contestants before tells Zoe, the 10 contestants are:
Alex ... ...to himself!
I think that reality TV may have gone a little to far, it could damage self confidence and self esteem! Also it could damage Zoes trust and faith she gives people! Something about Miriam was good but this is a step further and as we get to know the characters from the programme we could set our hearts on who we believe is gay and who not! But there are some suprises. Raphael has matching shoes for every outfit and has a sense for fashion, ...

Advantages: Learn what you have at home! Disadvantages: Learn what you don't want at home!!!!!!!!!!!!
My personal view on this programe is actually quite positive as well as my partner. We all sometimes take advantage of who we have that is close to us and i feel this show is designed to make you realise just how lucky you are. You have two couples in the show and the wives from each swap with eatch other and live with the other family in their own homes for 10 days. For the first 5 days they have to run the house the way the male's partner would ... ...disagreements, but also nasty at times as well. The intresting part of the show is when they get to create the rules of the house for the final 5 days of the show, which helps both parties realise just how much you addapt to your partners ways, your own ways and those of your children. My advice is to just watch one show and i guarantee you will be hooked, but also learn too appreciate each other just that little bit more. I know i did! ...

Advantages: YOU GET TO SEE WHAT CELEB'S ARE REALLY LIKE Disadvantages: ANOTHER REALITY SHOW
Trust Me I'm A Holiday Rep has got me watching in ore, most of it is great watching, the celeb's are trying there best(well most if them anyway) to get the job right, Nina Mishcoff?, coming into her own, and Sid Little getting stuck in with the holiday makers, Jordan (from boy band New Kids On The Block) and the other one who's name escapes me at the moment, both doing well, then theres Jodie Marsh shes well up for it getting her boob's out and lap ... ...other one WHO IS SHE, i'm sure someone knows who she is and what she's done in the past, but how annoying is she, she's never happy and always moaning about everything, well she gots her's, she got the sack for having a go at some hoilday makers, and so she should of done. We watch things like this and i wouldnt want to be talked to like she talked to people.

Advantages: None Disadvantages: Petty voyeurism, cheapening human behaviour, boring
put this at jeopardy and I'm a little disgusted with the producers of the show for trying to do this.
Is it just me or is this whole realityTV thing getting boring, and seemingly becoming a more accepted form of voyeurism? Whats the difference between watching Big Brother because two people might end up having sex, and some sad lonely person peeking through a womans window while she gets undressed? I don't see the difference personally, and neither of them get my rocks off if you know what I mean.
It amazes me even more that they even dared to create Big Brother Live, which runs on E4 after midnight, although I have found that it is good for sending you off to sleep, even better than Horlicks. What is our supposed obsession with watching how people live their lives?
I think the whole Big Brother thing has gone on way too long, as ...
Advantages: keeps Davina MaCall in work. Disadvantages: keeps Davina MaCall in work.
-chosen term lets look at the word reality. People will argue that as humans we are natural interested in watching those around us, and that's probably true. But putting a load of unknowns and falling stars in a house for them to play up to the cameras is as far from reality as watching baboons in a zoo. After many years of this slowly failing format, I'm amazed that there is any mileage in this show any more, but the fact that there is says more about the viewing audience than the program controllers. How easy it is to please the modern audience. Religion isn't the opium of the masses, realityT.V. is.
So upon analysis we find that this reality show is not about reality and the celebrity element is also going against trades descriptions. Realy this show is about lazy program makers perpetuating the false celebrity status of a bunch of nobodies ...
Advantages: Has the huge success of its predecessor to guarantee early viewing figures and media hype, able to exploit people's natural voyeuristic tendencies. Disadvantages: Going to have to go further than the first series, so we must expect gratuitous nudity, as well as maybe sex and violence.
The phenomenal success of Channel 4’s ‘Big Brother’ is manifested by the huge number of television and internet viewers, media hype, celebrity status of the contestants and the number of copycat television programmes that it has generated. This ‘realityTV’ has been continued with Channel 5’s ‘Jailbreak’ and now with the very disappointing ‘Survivor’ which has drawn pathetic viewing figures despite very heavy advertising, but how does this relate to Big Brother 2 which we will first see on our screens on Thursday?
One of the overriding reasons for ‘Big Brother’s success was its novelty value, seeing real people cope with real problems and emotions, and the mutual interactions between complete strangers. It was also strangely stimulating to see normal people having ...
