What would you recommend to not forget when moving to China? Question about China in general by McBeer

Soon I am moving to Hangzhou, China for a year to teach English. This will be my first time living abroad and as its a completely different culture, I can imagine there are a lot of things I can't purchase that I am used to. Is there anything you would recommend that I definitely take because I would struggle to find that it in China?

We are getting married next year in August and wanted to go to the Maldives for our honeymoon but are slightly concerned about the weather at this time of year. We were also going to stay in a water villa but one of the reviews say that it is windier and the sea is choppier that side of the island. Can anyone advise us on which accomodation to book please
