Whats the correct way to fit Question about Chicco 360 Table Seat by janethebby

i've just purchased this for my breakfast bar and when fixing it on the table the back prongs don't reach the table and the front adjustables one fix at a slant when tightened..its just doen't seem right..when unfasted there is about a 2inch difference in length of the back prongs so wondering if i am either fixing it wrong or are only the lockable prongs suppose to make contact with the table...the table is a standard width breakfast bar.
