Advantages: Smart, robust, easy to use, versatile, simple, well made, fit for many other devices.

It does seem a lot of money for something that most people don't need, because as you say most laptops can be connected directly to a mouse, screen and keyboard. I work for a local council where we do exactly that and once you've done it a couple of times it only takes a few seconds, although in the long run I'd have thought wear and tear on the various connections may be an issue. by jonathanb
