Let the good times (and good bread) roll!
Review of Au Bon Pain, Kolkata (Calcutta) by koshkha

Advantages: Extensive range of international choices, great staff, super building
Disadvantages: My hummus wrap could have done with less cabbage

Curry Overload There will be readers who will shake their heads in disbelief when they read that it is actually possible to get bored of eating curry. I know, sounds unlikely doesn’t it, but halfway through a three week trip in India the urge can com ... Read review

Lounging around in Chennai
Review of Courtyard by Marriott, Chennai by koshkha

Advantages: Good room, great bed, great staff and excellent lounge
Disadvantages: Not very 'Indian'

What do Points mean? Hotel Nights For last year’s trip to India I booked a very varied bunch of hotels. The first two were old favourites - places we’d been before and knew we’d love. The third in Kolkata was our ‘blow out’ hotel - a place that would ... Read review

The Dead Centre of 18th Century British India
Review of South Park Street Cemetery, Kolkata by koshkha

Advantages: An amazing one of a kind place
Disadvantages: It can get very hot - but so can everything in Kolkata

Kolkata-bound In nearly 20 years of going to India, there was one big hole in my coverage of the country - a big Kolkata-shaped hole. Kolkata suffers from two issues that make it less popular with tourists - three if you count the association people ... Read review

What's a girl got to do to get a beer round here?
Review of Shangri-La Restaurant, Darjeeling by koshkha

Advantages: Great food
Disadvantages: Bizarre beer rituals

Fishing for a Kingfisher One thing that might surprise you about the fabulous Himalayan town of Darjeeling is that it can be really quite difficult to get an alcoholic drink. Tea? No problem - there’s a lot of that about. Bottled water and soft drink ... Read review

Hot Stuff!
Review of Hot Stimulating Cafe, Darjeeling by koshkha

Advantages: Cheap and fun. Fantastic momos
Disadvantages: Allows smoking in the cafe

Show me the pandas! Ever since we’d booked our flights to go to Darjeeling, there had been one key ‘must do’ on our list and that was to return to the town’s amazing zoo and hang out with the red pandas. The zoo is always closed on Thursdays so we d ... Read review

Is this where the Dalai Lama does his laundry?
Review of Baghsu Waterfall, Dharamsala by koshkha

Advantages: A rare chance for peace and quiet and good exercise
Disadvantages: Not a particularly spectacular waterfall.

McLeod Ganj The town of McLeod Ganj is just up the hill from Dharamsala in the Indian Himalaya. Whilst most people think that the Dalai Lama’s home in exile is in Dharamsala, it’s actually McLeodganj where his temple and his home are and where most t ... Read review

Delhi's Friendliest Temple
Review of Gurudwara Bangla Sahib, New Delhi by koshkha

Advantages: Fabulous architecture, great tourist 'lounge', beautiful experience
Disadvantages: None - don't be shy, the Sikh religion welcomes everyone

Divine Inspiration We have been to Delhi so many times that we’re running out of new things to see and do and have been revisiting old favourites. The small hotel where we usually stay in Old Delhi is a short walk from the enormous Jameh Mosque, India ... Read review

Southern Temple Food in Delhi's Swanky Village
Review of Naivedyam Restaurant, New Delhi by koshkha

Advantages: Wonderful food in beautiful surroundings at great prices
Disadvantages: Not so easy to get to and a bit off the standard tourist beaten track

Top Two I have two favourite restaurants in New Delhi. One is a place called Zen on Connaught Place that I’ve been going to for more than a decade and have reviewed here before. The other is still fairly new and we’ve only been twice. It’s called Naiv ... Read review

Is Ninoy Aquino International the Worse Airport
Review of Ninoy Aquino International Airport, Metro Manila Philippines (NAIA) by BESTRESULTS

Advantages: Easy location, Good buses, Baggage area good, Wif Fi possible
Disadvantages: Little Staff, Basic ammenities in parts, Immigration long queues, Security checks poor

I have used this airport thirty times over ten years and although it is often voted the worse airport in Aia and rates low in the world, it can be OK. The problems start when arriving as the Taxi traffic is horrible, and Manila is full of Taxi drivers who ... Read review

Disadvantages: Dishonest personnel perhaps.

(Not sure why this has been entered as an airport, but I will post my review anyway^^) I will be writing a review of this airport, based on my most recent experience of using it. I flew to it on the 27th of December 2014 and departed from Thailand usin ... Read review

Advantages: Good cheap food and near to the station
Disadvantages: Smelly toilets and fierce air conditioning

Disadvantages: Not as much to offer as some other oil-rich cities

Advantages: Awesome flying experience among the most beautiful mountains in the world
Disadvantages: None - unless you're too picky to deserve to do this.

Advantages: Great views, clean setting, wide menu, good staff and fair prices
Disadvantages: You can eat cheaper and more authentic than Cafe Sol

I like the look of that. Interesting isn't it? We think nothing of eating Asian food at home but feel guilty for eating European food abroad. I reckon I can normally go about 10 days, but then I crave fish and chips, or a bacon sandwich... I wouldn't go that long in the UK without wanting something Thai- or Chinese- or Indian inspired. by hiker
