Advantages: lots to do, friendly, good value for money, easy to get around, cultural, lovely hotels
Disadvantages: they're desperate to get your money by any means, humid, smelly

Good review, I have been to Bangkok and am going again in October so thought I would read through some reviews and see what other people thought. I know what you mean when you say there is a big contrast between rich and poor, I thought that too. xx by daylehall
As you were on a Thomas cook package, I was expecting more detail about that aspect. The review of Bangkok in general is ok, but again, I felt there could have been a little more detail about your experiences. The city is full of surprises and I'm very interested in hearing different opinions from all different types of people. You are right when you say 4 days is not enough.......there's no way you can see and experience everything. I hope you you get the chance to go back 'under your own steam' as it were. 'Crazy Taxi' style transport

Advantages: cheap (and negotiable), always plenty to choose from, friendly drivers, good sky rail
Disadvantages: traffic and one-way systems, taxis always trying to sell you seafood, these people have never heard of 'braking distance'

You should have tried the buses and the motorbike taxis. As for poverty and dirty. I am never quite sure where people get this from. Monty Don mentioned this in a recent tv programe and to be honest he way off the mark. Bangkok is one of the most modern and fascinating cities in the world. by Jarrac
