Our night went to the dogs
Review of Drumbo Park Greyhound Stadium, Belfast by ithoughtyoudneverask

Advantages: A fun night out, a bit different, surprised me
Disadvantages: Novelty wore off slightly, probably just a one-off activity

I’ve already mentioned that recently I took a trip to Belfast for a hen weekend. While we were planning what we would do over the couple of days we were there, one of the girls suggested a night out at the dogs. At first we were all a bit sceptical as thi ... Read review

The Plough and the (lack of) Stars
Review of Plough Inn, Hillsborough by tallulahbang

Advantages: A decent menu
Disadvantages: Rude and incompetent staff, ridiculously long waits to be served, overpriced, poor accessibility

Recently, my boyfriend started a new job and I thought we’d go out for dinner that night as a little celebration. We were aiming to dine around 6ish and we were looking for somewhere nice with reliably good food, rather than somewhere mega-fancy. Our fi ... Read review

Belfast for a hen-night, what's the world coming to? This place sounds nice, and a steak that's been aged and cooked properly makes all the difference to a night out. I think the chef'd send you packing if you asked for the goat's cheese and beetroot dish without beetroot more than once a week, though. by pgn0

Catsholiday, they have a restaurant, vending machine and a bar. They have a snacks menu which I ordered from once, the sandwhich I had was ok but not brilliant - if there is another option I would go for that next time. The meal from the restaurant was fab though. by StitchedUp
Would be useful to know what sort of facilities were in the rest of the hotel. Was any food provided or just the vending machines? by catsholiday

Review of Hilden Brewery Tap Room, Lisburn by tallulahbang

Disadvantages: Hard to find, outside looks tatty

I suppose that if the restaurant was easy to find then it may have been very busy and full of the pesky brats that you were trying to avoid. The lack of signage suggests that the food side is very secondary to the brewery, so it must have been a pleasant surprise that your meals were so good. You made a typo which threw me for a moment - "2 curses for £15...". I didn't realise that curses came so cheap these days, or I'd have bought a few and directed them at various people who annoy me. by jonathanb

Mangiamo!
Review of Uno's, Lisburn by tallulahbang

Advantages: Reliably good Italian food
Disadvantages: Too family friendly, can be noisy

Arse cheeks and unruly children? Not a good combo. Perhaps the Italian with the massive tool should have put some oil and parmesan on the children's heads and threatened to chuck them in the pizza oven if they didn't behave. I can't help but feel that a mere tulip lacked ambition on your behalf, by the way. Italian restaurants usually have a good selection of condiments on the table, so I'l thinking a balled up serviette with as greasy and sticky a coating as you could muster would have been better. by jonathanb
