Welcome to Ciao. Certainly good for a first review, though a bit more analysis of the book under discussion - as well as background about the author - would improve it. by torr

Dirty game
Review of Dirty Game - Jessie Keane by mummytobe78

Advantages: Good start to a series. Doesnt drag out or get boring
Disadvantages: Some characters made me want to shake them

I am always on the lookout for an author I haven't read before. I enjoy crime/thriller books along the lines of James Patterson and Martina Cole so when a friend recommended Jessie Keane I was quick to download one of her books onto my Kindle. ~~~~ABOUT ... Read review

A shocking, unbelievable read about Simpson's experiences.
Review of Touching the Void - Joe Simpson by Elna642

Advantages: Emotional yet still accurate and factual
Disadvantages: Lots of technical language that some may not understand

At school a little while ago we looked at an extract from this book, and I decided I may as well read the rest of the book too. If you don’t already know, Joe Simpson suffered a serious leg injury while climbing a previously unreached summit in the Peruv ... Read review

A surprisingly good sequel to Westerfeld's 'Uglies'.
Review of Pretties - Scott Westerfeld by Elna642

Advantages: Well written, captures the voice of Tally as a Pretty amazingly
Disadvantages: The Pretty narration gets rather irritating

Fantastic
Review of Lyonesse - Jack Vance by torr

Advantages: Boundless imagination, captivating style
Disadvantages: Reliance on magic (but not to any detriment to the overall effect)

Had he lived to see it, Jack Vance would today have celebrated his 100th birthday. Somehow this seems yet another reason to remember his work – on top of his boundless imagination, captivating style and prodigious output. He wrote at least 60 books, p ... Read review

Review of At Risk - Patricia Cornwell by mikeyc123

Advantages: it's short
Disadvantages: poor characterisation, badly written, poor plot, awful lead investigator.

This is the first Patricia Cornwell novel which I have read and frankly it does not make me want to read any more. However, I know that this novel did not feature her usual running character so this may have been a departure in style. I bought this novel ... Read review

Review of Blunderer - Patricia Highsmith by cr01

Advantages: A good murder mystery
Disadvantages: Nope, it's an easy read.
