A book that is not always welcome.
Review of A Dog Who's Always Welcome: Assistance and Therapy Dog Trainers Teach You How to Socialize and Train Your Companion Dog - Lorie Long by Marge3781

Advantages: Advocates reward based training
Disadvantages: Absolutely no useful information, tedious and tortorous reading.

My husband isn't big on gifts. I don't feel they are necessary to prove love, and it simply makes more sense for me to choose what I want for holidays as I always want books and after Treasure Island he'd be lost. Two months ago though, out of the blue he ... Read review

If you could give us a brief description of the book - what is about ( no spoilers) what the main characters are like etc... I'd be delighted to come back and leave a rate. I didn't want to leave another low one as I can see you are just getting started here and I know it takes awhile to find your feet on this site. It would help to know your sons age as well. For instance I am forever looking books suitable for my 9 year old, so it helps if I know children of a similar age enjoy the books. by Marge3781

Before we met....
Review of Before We Met - Lucie Whitehouse by euphie

Advantages: Great read, great characters, gripping read
Disadvantages: Disappointing ending, could be longer

I recently read a review on Ciao about this book and it sounded like something I would enjoy. The fact that it was only £1.54 for the Kindle version was another bonus in my opinion. According to Amazon, this is a British version of Gillian Flynn's Gone ... Read review

Review of Bring up the Bodies - Hilary Mantel by spanielize

Advantages: Much more readable than Wolf Hall (no criticism of WH of course)
Disadvantages: It would be best to have read Wolf Hall first

"Bring Up the Bodies" is the sequel to English novelist Hilary Mantel's "Wolf Hall". Published in 2012, like "Wolf Hall" it was the Winner of the Man Booker Prize, and it also won Costa Book of the Year. It is the second in a trilogy chronicling the li ... Read review

Hellraising in the Stuart era
Review of Blazing Star: The Life and Times of John Wilmot, Earl of Rochester - Alexander Laiman by JOHNV

Advantages: Interesting read about a colourful character
Disadvantages: Tends to overestimate his importance and play up his (few) good points

John Wilmot, 2nd Earl of Rochester, was the ultimate ‘live fast, die young’ icon of the Stuart age, the seventeenth-century embodiment of ‘Hope I die before I get old’. Restoration dandy, satirist and pornographic poet, he died a lingering death in 1680 ... Read review

Advantages: Beautifully produced, fascinating to read
Disadvantages: Not cheap, too little about the Thames
