Magical, mystical, enchanting
Review of The Night Circus - Erin Morgenstern by ohkasey

Advantages: Magical, enchanting, beautiful, moving, interesting, detailed, wonderful
Disadvantages: The magical contest wasn't as exciting as expected.

The first thing I feel as though I should mention is that the descriptions I'd read of this book prior to reading didn't truly represent the contents of the book. I was expecting something completely different. Either way, I was completely enchanted by th ... Read review

The end of an era
Review of Leonard Maltin's 2015 Movie Guide - Leonard Maltin by thedevilinme

Advantages: Best movie guide on the go
Disadvantages: Outdated

I’m still the only person I know to hate the film American Beauty and think an E-Type Jag is an ugly old lump. I need a second, third and fourth opinion before I buy or rent or a movie or, indeed, a classic performance sports car. For movies every Chris ... Read review

A Labyrinth of Interconnecting Guilts
Review of The Genius and the Goddess - Aldous Huxley by hiker

Advantages: Much easier than most of Huxley and with a proper story

Twenty four missions against one ship over four years
Review of Target Tirpitz - Patrick Bishop by 2mennycds

Advantages: Fascinating, gripping, compassionate, well written
Disadvantages: None, other than its genre and content

I apologise at the outset for plagiarising the title of this review. It is a mere re-word of the subtitle on the cover of this book, but I couldn’t improve on its conciseness and accuracy of its contents. A momentous launch Named after a former G ... Read review

Stop Time Now, I want this one to end
Review of Time Must Have A Stop - Aldous Huxley by hiker

Advantages: Highly intellectual

Not A Book I'd Save If It Were Burning
Review of Burn - Linda Howard by gothic_moon

Advantages: Easy enough to read, premise is a little different to the norm
Disadvantages: Repetitious, amateurish feel to the writing, not keen on the 'romantic suspense', bit dull

I came across this in the library recently and picked it up as I seem to have read all the books available by my go-to authors at the moment. It looked like my kind of thing, but unfortunately it was a little weak to be one I'd recommend. Burn falls with ... Read review

A Wishy-Washy Crime Thriller
Review of Afraid To Die - Lisa Jackson by gothic_moon

Advantages: Engaging enough to read, good ol' detective work
Disadvantages: Premise could have been stronger & characters more developed, romantic elements, lacked oomph

Having read and reviewed a few Lisa Jackson novels, this one caught my eye in the library. True to form, it was engaging and atmospheric, and whilst not my favourite novel of all time due to the romance element perhaps, it was an enjoyable read. Afraid ... Read review
