The best - no question
Review of Pioneer CTS830S by
Beerking
Advantages: Fabulous sound, build, reliability, lots of features
Disadvantages: Expensive but worth every penny
I bought my Pioneer CTS 830S in 1997, along with a full vinyl system fronted by a Pink Triangle Anniversary turntable with SME V arm and Lyra Lydian cartridge. The Pioneer was to be used to archive all my vinyl for use when I didn't want to use the TT. Si ...

It's a superb tape deck! But nothing else!
Review of ION TAPE 2 PC USB by
StanRogo
Advantages: high sound quality, diverse functions, record to tape mode, record from tape mode
Disadvantages: usless instruction manual, useless recording programme, not all cables supplied
The sound quality is good, so is the recording quality. The look and design are brilliant and so is the durability! It's an extremly good cassette deck with a level meter indication feature as well as noise reduction and dubbing which are just the start! ...

A journey into nostalgia
Review of Sony TCWE475.CEK by
grandchamp
Advantages: Easy to copy tapes, nice bright sound, easy to use
Disadvantages: Sounds notably flatter than cd players, tapes have been phased out, quite noisy
The tape player almost feels jurassic when you consider that subsequently the the compact disc the mini disc followed and could arguably be superseded themselves by blu ray audio. However it certainly brought back nostalgia when listen to this cassette p ...

Avoid if you want consistent sound quality!
Review of Sony TCWE475.CEK by
talking_horse
Advantages: Twin auto reverse. Easy to use. Relay play etc
Disadvantages: Sound quality varies due to badly designed auto-reverse system
This is the worst quality cassette deck I have ever owned.
The sound quality can vary slightly each time you play a cassette and it also depends on the direction (auto reverse) and which deck you are using.
The problem is the way the auto reverse is ...

As a self-employed worker, offering secretarial services from my home I had to purchase a multitude of equipment in order to be able to present the extent of services I do. One of the services I offer is audio typing, and for this reason I needed a reliab ...

Decent Sony for the money
Review of Sony TCWE475.CEK by
03bintls
Advantages: Number of features
Disadvantages: Only single deck record, and pretty noisy
Its true, I don't think anyone really uses cassettes anymore. But a cassette player was the only device missing from my hifi set up, so when I saw this in my local town I thought I might as well get it...then I could listen again to all those dusty tapes ...

Great sounding cassette recorder
Review of Technics RS-BX646 Stereo Cassette Deck by
tcumming
Advantages: Great sound quality, good set of features, three heads
Disadvantages: No remote control
Many people seem to think that cassette tapes, and analogue audio in general, have had their day. For me though, I have so many cassettes that converting them to a digital format is impractical, and buying CD copies or paying to download them, too expensi ...

Having selling this item at my work I found that the setting up of this item with an amplifier is straight forward without having to read the manual that it comes with.

Last of the greats
Review of Nakamichi DR-10 by
Mudspanker
Advantages: Build, Sound
Disadvantages: Price
This model is not as complex or accomplished as the big Naks of the past, but gives them a run for their money sonically. It is directly descended from the likes of the CR 7 and Dragon and employs their renowned discrete three head design (where the recor ...

dobieg
Advantages: Straightforward no frills tape deck

Teac have been in operating the electronics industry for over 50 years, and whilst they don't often feature in most people's list top five manufacturers, their reputation for building no-nonsense tape drives is well established.

Review of Yamaha KX 330 by
Trev1000
Advantages: Excellent all round quality
Disadvantages: No microphone input
Realistic reproduction is the only way I can describe the sound that emanates from this excellent cassette tape recorder / player. It's well in line with Yamaha's usual quality.

150 Sovs Buys You The Works
Review of Yamaha KX580 by
BNibbles
Advantages: Excellent recording quality thanks to advanced technical facilities
Disadvantages: Hidden minor controls are fiddly.
I have been using this deck for two years. It cost around £250 then ,but it's less than £150 now, thanks partly to a strong pound. Grrrr!

Advantages: Easy To Use, Dolby C, Well Equipped For Price
