The Jimi Hendrix of violins.....
Review of Yamaha SV-200 Electric Violin by spiritwood

Advantages: Incredible sound and versatility, silent playing or amplified.
Disadvantages: Costly but excellent quality.

Going Greek....
Review of Gewa Greek Bouzouki by spiritwood

Advantages: Beautiful to look at, gorgeous rich tone, easy to play.
Disadvantages: None

If you are looking for something a bit different to the guitar or uke then a Bouzouki could be for you. These beautiful fretted stringed instruments sound less jangly and tinny than a mando and are easier to play due to their size. They are also stunning ... Read review

A horrible violin shaped object marketed as quality
Review of Stentor Conservatoire 4/4 Size Violin Outfit by spiritwood

Advantages: Makes a great frisbee
Disadvantages: Everything. save your money.

I work on (and make) violins so have seen lots of different types and makes. Stentors on the whole make my teeth itch.... Stentor are a company that generally make starter violins. Like "Skylark" were in the 1970's, their main customers are usually fraug ... Read review

A Personal Favourite
Review of Aulos 1739Y Brown 209 Treble Recorder by HPark96

Advantages: Good sound quality, suitable for people of all abilities.
Disadvantages: May be a bit big and heavy for young children.

An instrument that is frequently overlooked and classed as being a ‘child’s instrument’ is the recorder, with few people fully appreciating the marvellous instrument that it can be if played properly and well. Also, many people are ignorant, through no fa ... Read review

Hohner 64 C Good Quality worth the price
Review of Hohner Super 64 C by JedWoodcock123

Advantages: Great sound and is loud so people can hear very well
Disadvantages: Quite big so might be hard to carry in your pocket

Welcome to Ciao. Knowing nothing about harmonica's myself you really do need to put more information in here. I assume from what you have said that this is a beginners instrument? What makes this different to a harmonica that a more experienced player would use? What does it feel like playing and what's it like in comparison to other instruments? Lissy by Secre
How much does it cost? What key is it in? And so on - this is a crap review! I know more about them then you do, according to your review - but I am not the one who is writing a review on it. by dynamicnurse

Rare and Beautiful
Review of Adler 1356 Short Reach Bassoon by HPark96

Advantages: Easy to play once learnt, well worth the price paid
Disadvantages: None

The bassoon is a very rare and beautiful instrument, in both senses of the word. It sounds very beautiful and looks equally so (although I’m afraid I will be biased as I am a grade 4 bassoonist in 3 music groups). Where you may have heard the bassoo ... Read review

Hohner harmonicas - obtaining spares
Review of Hohner Diatonic Harmonicas by Benfro-Rob

Advantages: Nice tones and playability
Disadvantages: Some new harmonicas have incorrect reed gaps. Lack of spare reeds

I regularly use Hohner harmonicas to play jam sessions. The models that I find best for traditional music are the Pro MS Series and the Special 20 series. Both give a good tone and volume (though not to compete with bagpipes or accordions!), but spare ... Read review

good review ;) by martinrobinson
I have an E11 that I also learnt on at school. I'd say here youd be better to put more info here rather than pin pointing. Having tried the Prestige a couple of times, my E11 is simpler, although very rare now and was at the time, the one below the Prestige. I found the weight a bit heavy on the Prestige plus the over elaborate keys meant getting to springs/mechanisms for custom adjustment could be trickier. by Nar2
