Advantages: Very smooth sound

i cant really comment as to what else you could have included in this?!! by NURSE_BETTY
Good review but im not happy with Yamaha mouthpieces either for clarinet or saxophone - the lay isnt particularly well made and the sound and air sometimes gets far too restricted. If you have tired cheeks, then get Rizla cigarette papers. Take 2 papers and wet one side, fold in half and half again and half once more.. you should end up with a square. After this, wet both sides and bend one half over your bottom layer teeth. Youll find that this provides a more comfortable embouchere and you wont tire as much. Only use cigarette papers as these are the softest you can use in your mouth - toilet paper can cause marks and cut the gums. Nar by Nar

misunderstood
Review of Rico Clarinet Reeds by bolte

Advantages: extremely playable and very cheap
Disadvantages: horribly underrated

all the quality (ok, most of the quality) of van doren's and only half as expensive. they may not be the best reed out there, but they're still a very good quality product. Plus, while they're playability and durability are high, the price is low. you ... Read review

Normal Rico reeds are normally those which aren't good enough to be sold as rico royal or rico select etc, so i find them poor quality - they're alright for beginners, but for clarinettists of a good standard wanting a good tone, you need a better reed - i use vandorens by poooookie

Put it in your mouth and blow, not suck...
Review of Van Doren Clarinet Mouthpieces by CareBear

Advantages: Good quality and reliable brand
Disadvantages: Can be more pricey

Play around with it in your hands. Is it a good weight? Is it symetrical with a good curvature? Give it a good blow. Put it right in your mouth. Does it feel good? As your lips curl around do you contact in the right places? Now for the cap. ... Read review

When I first got my clarinets, I first bought a B45 to go with them, because i liked this best at the time, but now i use a selmer C85 120 - i find it has a nicer tone - i found the B45 slightly harsh on my clarinets. Just wanted 2 say, selmer clarinets rule, as do selmer saxes!! (comin from sum1 hu plays selmer A+Bb clarinets, selmer alto + tenor saxes!) Sorry, but i also really dislike Buffet clarinets, dont no y - they jus dont seem 2 work 4 me! by poooookie
I have a pair of Buffet R13's! by MissTopaz

Van Doren are best
Review of Van Doren Clarinet Reeds by MotherLove

Advantages: Clearer crisper sound
Disadvantages: None

I have been playing the clarinet now for about 17 years. I began lessons when I was at secondary school and my first clarinet teacher started me with rico reeds. At the time, obviously not knowing any better I was happy enough with these and I do think ... Read review

As my review makes clear, I highly approve of Vandoren too. They can be a lot more expensive than competitor brands but they are well worth the money! Though poooookie has a point that they can be occasionally squeaky. Tom. by tomt89
I use vandoren reeds as well - defintely much better than rico! by poooookie
