Found it very difficult to finish
Review of The Book Thief - Markus Zusak by
SK1997
Advantages: good beginning
Disadvantages: have no clue what the message was
...book. There is little on the blurb and at first, reading the first hundred pages, I had no idea what the story was about apart from a girl living with a foster mother and father in Nazi Germany and the tale explains ...

Captivating storyline
Review of Before I Fall - Lauren Oliver by
SK1997
Advantages: amazing story
Disadvantages: needs to cut down on two or three chapters
This reminded me of The girl who Leapt through time. I loved it very much as it is mind boggling and confusing. I did think that there were unnecessary rude scenes however the book itself was very original, imaginative and sad.
The book is divided in to ...

Weird ghost story
Review of Anna Dressed in Blood - Kendare Blake by
SK1997
Advantages: great spookiness
Disadvantages: poor romance, poor characters
The thing is, when I saw Ghost Hunters, I freaked out. I really wanted something that would spook me out. But reading this, a ten year old would just laugh. Yes, I laughed through out the whole book and found it humorous, not scary. I don't know why it sa ...

Review of A Little Princess: The Story of Sara Crewe - Frances Hodgson Burnett by

I first heard about this story through watching the nineteen eighty five animated cartoon series which I absolutely loved and adored. But reading the actual novel has made me think how precise that adaptation was because they included everything in the bo ...

great ending to the trilogy
Review of The Betrayal - Mary Hooper by
SK1997
Advantages: great ending
Disadvantages: needs to be longer, more character development
I was very disappointed with the final book from the trilogy because of the title. It clearly stated 'The Betrayal' but the book doesn't focus on a concept like that which kind of tipped me off.
The characters however are nicely described like my favoura ...

Strong heroines
Review of By Royal Command - Mary Hooper by
SK1997
Advantages: great characters
Disadvantages: could have been a more interesting mystery this time
Even though I still enjoyed this book, I don't think it was as great as the first. I loved the snippets of Historical detail and the mystery but it did not intrigue me as much. There wasn't much of an adventurous side to Lucy either.
The romance between ...

Mysterious
Review of At the House of the Magician - Mary Hooper by
SK1997
Advantages: great characters and detective work incluing plot
Disadvantages: should be more romantic
Again this story has been passionately written with the vivid historical detail. The plot is very strong however the beginning is very slow and its not until the end that things actually begin to happen. But the writing is very simple and easy to understa ...

Never read anything as perfect as this
Review of Switched - Amanda Hocking by
SK1997
Advantages: great unique story, twists
Disadvantages: none
I love this! It's about trolls but not the green monsters we all know. It's about magic, mystery, secrets and romance. It similar to the way we tell stories about fairies because it's magical! I need to read the whole trilogy!
It all starts with Wendy f ...

Review of Zaremba or Love and the Rule of Law - Michelle Granas by
fizzytom
Advantages: Unusual and engaging characters; highly entertaining yet edifying at the same time
Disadvantages: Occasionally bangs the drum too long
Usually I'd thank an author or publisher that had supplied me with a review copy of a book at the end of my review but I am so delighted to have read Michelle P. Granas's 'Zaremba: or Love and the Rule of Law' that feel compelled to offer my thanks immedi ...

Review of The Lord Of The Rings : Two Towers - J.R.R. Tolkien by
RebeccaLovesBooks
Advantages: Amazing characters, gripping plot.
Disadvantages: None for me, but it is a long book

An Insane but Addictive Read
Review of Insanity - Lauren Hammond by
elfbwillow
Advantages: Gripping and exciting with a great mystery
Disadvantages: Time frame confusion
Insanity – Lauren Hammond
I was always against Kindles. I love the feel of a paper-back book, the smell of a brand new hard copy novel, the look of the books as they sit upon my bookshelves…everything about a Kindle was too alien for me. There was no f ...

Enjoyed the story, couldn't connect with the characters
Review of Pride and Prejudice - Jane Austen by

"Pride",observed Mary, who piqued herself upon the solidity of her reflections, "is a very common failing, I believe. By all that I have ever read, I am convinced that it is very common indeed; that human nature is particularly prone to it, and that there ...
