A disappointing sequel
Review of The Girl Who Played with Fire - Stieg Larsson by YoshiCheesePuff

Advantages: Tells a good story, brings back the best characters from the original, and grips throughout.
Disadvantages: The side characters are poor, the writing style is too descriptive and the pacing is too slow.

John Fante's 1930's American Classic - Ask The Dusk
Review of Ask the Dust - John Fante by cr01

Advantages: An easy read tale
Disadvantages: Love it.... hate it?

I guess it happened gradually; just how did that fire in my belly slowly became replaced with lard? When were those impulsive and frankly ridiculous actions of my youth replaced by considered pondering? That all said, I work for a low ranking government b ... Read review

Review of Salt to the Sea - Ruta Sepetys by dragon747

Advantages: Historical writing at its best

About Time
Review of Thief of Time - Terry Pratchett by hiker

Advantages: Thought-provoking despite the delightful silliness

I really want to have a favourite Discworld novel, but I struggle even to come up with a favourite character. I utterly respect the Witches: especially Granny W (who'd dare not to do so) but also Margrat and Agnes for daring to be themselves and stand u ... Read review

A Talented Writer but a Disappointing Book
Review of Depraved Heart - Patricia Cornwell by LauraMcCabeUK

Advantages: Its another 'Kay Scarpetta' Novel
Disadvantages: Too long, Didn't enjoy the plot

This book, though well written, Cornwell could have done better. I do feel for such a well-established writer as herself this book was long and drawn out. When in fact it could have been shorter. The completed hardcover copy is 466 pages long and in ess ... Read review

A Pretty Good Read!
Review of Pretty Girls - Karin Slaughter by gothic_moon

Advantages: Excellent writing style, engaging characters, vivid scenes, tense plot
Disadvantages: None for me

I was geekily excited when I picked this book up. As a fan of Slaughter, I was overjoyed to find a book, and a fairly hefty one at that, that I hadnt yet read. I was looking forward to this as my post-op read, and I wasnt disappointed. On the cover we ... Read review

Advantages: A great read
Disadvantages: Cannot think of any

Review of The Hitchhiker's Guide to The Galaxy - Douglas Adams by cameronamr

Advantages: Incredibly Funny
Disadvantages: Not Suitable for younger children

Welcome to Ciao, this is a really good start! Think about what youd want to know before making a purchasing decision and write it out for others; a brief plot summary, writing style, characters, themes, etc can all be covered. Why did you love it or hate it. Aim for 500 words as your base minimum word count. Lower than that and you will be scraping H's where the money here is in the VH's and above.
