Several Humbugs Too Far
Review of Grumpy Old Christmas - Stuart Prebble by sharper_fin

Advantages: Mildly amusing in places
Disadvantages: There's nothing to lift the relentless depression

Introduction I'm a grumpy old man, there's no denying it. I've stopped watching the nightly news as I spend more time shouting at the screen, trying to fix the world's problems, than listening to the news items themselves. I find myself fuming at pe ... Read review

Elantris; from Gods to Cursed Creatures
Review of Elantris - Brandon Sanderson by Secre

Advantages: A compelling read with a wonderful world and well drawn characters...
Disadvantages: The ending is perhaps a little rushed

The capital of Arelon used to be Elantris, a place of glory and majesty that glowed with eternal white light as did its inhabitants. The Elantrians were renowned as Gods with their brilliant white hair, their skin metallic silver, they were near immortal ... Read review

Fangirl: An Introverted Teen's Experience of College
Review of Fangirl - Rainbow Rowell by Elna642

Advantages: Easy to read, funny, relatable
Disadvantages: Nothing

I finished this book earlier today, and have been dying to sit down and get this review done! The first book I read by Rainbow Rowell was Eleanor & Park, but I have to say that I loved this so much more! It's still a romance, but less so - as in, it isn' ... Read review

Review of Morwellham's Child - Tania Anne Crosse by ravingreviewer

Advantages: Good romance story.

The ultimate Prisoner : Cell Block H Companion
Review of Behind the Bars: The Unofficial Prisoner Cell Block H Companion - Scott Anderson by Candyperfumegirl

Advantages: Easy to read.
Disadvantages: None for me

It could be argued that Prisoner Cell Block H was like Marmite, you either loved it or hated it. I disagree, I think the soap is divided by those that loved it and those that said they hated it but secretly loved it. I have lost count of the amount of tim ... Read review

Under My Skin & A Little Irritating
Review of I've Got You Under My Skin - Mary Higgins Clark by gothic_moon

Advantages: Easy to read layout in terms of chapters, a little different, fairly engaging
Disadvantages: Quite a lot of repetition, web of characters a little confusing at times

I recalled the author when I came across this in the library and anticipated a good read. Whilst it was engaging, and I got through it pretty darn quickly, I can't help but feel a tad disappointed by it. I've Got You Under My Skin is a crime thriller of ... Read review

Gritty Crime That Rose Knows Best
Review of Watch Your Back - Karen Rose by gothic_moon

Advantages: Intelligent & original premise, twists, very well written, depth of characters, atmospheric
Disadvantages: A little sickly sweet & repetitive at times perhaps

I consider Rose to be up there with my favourite authors and as I've really enjoyed some of her previous books, I was really looking forward to this one when I came across it in the library. I was glad I had a strong bag with me to carry it home as it's ... Read review

Advantages: Clever, funny, easy to read

The Hitchhiker's Guide: An Eccentric, Humourous Sci-fi Novel
Review of The Hitchhiker's Guide to The Galaxy - Douglas Adams by Elna642

Advantages: Funny, everything links well, unique, great characters

Review of The Devil's Cocktail - Alexander Wilson by hiker

Advantages: Good clean fun...
Disadvantages: ...if you can put it in the context of the times
