Co-Ordinates For A Murder Hunt
Review of Five - Ursula P. Archer by gothic_moon

Advantages: Intricate & intelligent premise, atmospheric, engaging characters, fluid writing style
Disadvantages: None for me

I came across this in the library and the cover caught my eye. I wasn't sure what to expect as I hadn't heard of the author before but I'm glad I gave it a go as it was a gripping, gritty read from start to finish. Five falls within the crime thriller ge ... Read review

Share the Joy
Review of Joyland - Stephen King by Soho_Black

Advantages: Fantastic story, driven by a great narrator
Disadvantages: Nothing at all

It was almost inevitable that Hard Case Crime would want a second Stephen king story. After all, their first collaboration, "The Colorado Kid" is their highest selling title and the TV series loosely based on it, "Haven", is coming to an end after five s ... Read review

Bordering on insanity
Review of Night Film - Marisha Pessl by ohkasey

Advantages: INCREDIBLE, unique, absorbing, addictive
Disadvantages: Slightly obnoxious main character

This book keeps you guessing right until the very end. It makes you question everything you know, or thought you know, and at the end you're left questioning even your own life. It's hard to explain when a book affects you to the point that you sit down ... Read review

what didn't you like about the main character, what is his name? why are the other characters magnetic? what are their names and relationships? What is the storyline, and how do we access the apps? Thats a very unique feature in a book...what are they like?? Once again a good start, and well written but not nearly enough!! by bettyboo47

A Labyrinth of Interconnecting Guilts
Review of The Genius and the Goddess - Aldous Huxley by hiker

Advantages: Much easier than most of Huxley and with a proper story
Disadvantages: None

...now got to grips with the idea that Huxley doesn’t so much want to tell a story as expound his ideas. Once you know that, it makes it easier to choose whether to read him or not. On balance, I have come down on the side of not – ... Read review

The Girl on the Train
Review of The Girl on the Train - Paula Hawkins by jules.34

Advantages: A gripping read
Disadvantages: None

I got given a copy of this book from a friend at work. I thought I would give it a read even although it wasn't my usual genre. It has been written by Paula Hawkins and, until I read this book, I wasn't previously aware of any of her work. This book is ... Read review

Stop Time Now, I want this one to end
Review of Time Must Have A Stop - Aldous Huxley by hiker

Advantages: Highly intellectual
Disadvantages: Not particularly enjoyable

Sometimes we start reading "authors" as opposed to specific books, because we feel we ''should''. So it was with me and Huxley. I seem to remember reading and actually enjoying the classic ''Brave New World'' and so felt compelled to explore more of the ... Read review

Not A Book I'd Save If It Were Burning
Review of Burn - Linda Howard by gothic_moon

Advantages: Easy enough to read, premise is a little different to the norm
Disadvantages: Repetitious, amateurish feel to the writing, not keen on the 'romantic suspense', bit dull

I came across this in the library recently and picked it up as I seem to have read all the books available by my go-to authors at the moment. It looked like my kind of thing, but unfortunately it was a little weak to be one I'd recommend. Burn falls with ... Read review

A Wishy-Washy Crime Thriller
Review of Afraid To Die - Lisa Jackson by gothic_moon

Advantages: Engaging enough to read, good ol' detective work
Disadvantages: Premise could have been stronger & characters more developed, romantic elements, lacked oomph

Having read and reviewed a few Lisa Jackson novels, this one caught my eye in the library. True to form, it was engaging and atmospheric, and whilst not my favourite novel of all time due to the romance element perhaps, it was an enjoyable read. Afraid ... Read review

An Annual Affair With The Doctor!
Review of Doctor Who: Official Annual 2016 - Various Authors by Chippytarka

Advantages: Cheap price, great pictures, good easy to understand descriptions of character's and events
Disadvantages: Nothing really connected with the 2015 series

It’s amazing how a grumpy sleep deprived mummy can have something in common with a just as grumpy and moody young son. Despite his now fascination, much to my horror, of Disney comedies such as Jessie, Thundermans and Henry Danger ( what happened to Cbee ... Read review
