Portent? Poor me more like!
Review of Portent - James Herbert by FloridaDino

Advantages: big type
Disadvantages: 384 pages, written in English

I've read a few James Herbert books down the years, and found he can be a little hit and miss. Some books I've really enjoyed, many not so. In the midst of a clear out of late, I came across this which had been hiding for some 15 odd years behind a shelf, ... Read review

A thoughtfowl piece of work?
Review of In His Own Write: A Spaniard in the Works - John Lennon by JOHNV

Advantages: Amusing in small doses
Disadvantages: Humour is a personal thing; rather dated nowadays

The author John Lennon was one of the most famous people of the 20th century. You don’t need me to tell you that he was a Liverpudlian singer-songwriter, peace activist, musician, and one of The Beatles, who spent the last few years of his life li ... Read review

You can't beat a good doodle lol I got told off at school for drawing cartoons/doodles in my school books - oops(!). This actually reminds me of another singer I had a crush on as a teen, who used to do random drawings. I suppose I didn't know Lennon drew much but then it makes sense since such people are obviously very creative and imaginative. Anyway, don't mind me(!) *ahem* good review. by IzzyS

The Deadhouse by Linda Fairstein American Crime Thriller
Review of The Deadhouse - Linda Fairstein by LiveMusicLoverLyn

Advantages: Formulaic person gets murdered and our protagonist sets out to solve the murder.
Disadvantages: see advantages as it depends what you like.

The Deadhouse Linda Fairstein One of the genres of fiction I enjoy is crime thriller; however I have to be in the right mood to start a book in this genre and that might be why whilst I read a lot it has taken me almost two years to open the first page ... Read review

Continuing to set the benchmark
Review of Pagan Lord - Bernard Cornwell by pdoyle007

Advantages: Great Story
Disadvantages: None

Bernard Cornwell is one of my favourite authors, with the excellent 'Sharpe' and 'Warlord' series. You can tell someone is good when he is the one others are built up to be like and in the genre of historical fiction this is the benchmark. The 'Saxon Ser ... Read review

Unlucky Number 9
Review of The 9th Girl - Tami Hoag by gothic_moon

Advantages: Intelligently written, enjoyable & gripping to read, depth of characters, atmospheric
Disadvantages: I wanted a bit more from the ending perhaps

I loved the last Hoag novel I read, and those before that too, so I was really looking forward to this one when I came across it in the library. I think I can say that she is an author I can rely on to write something engrossing, something that you don’t ... Read review

A beautiful and emotional story from Cassia Leo
Review of Black Box - Cassia Leo by RebeccaLovesBooks

Advantages: Emotional. Beautiful stories. Crush's character.
Disadvantages: None for me.
