Review of Family History Monthly by Louise90

Advantages: Good value for money. Loads of information.
Disadvantages: None.

I started doing my family history about a year ago. I’ve always been interested in it, but have recently decided to actively do something about it. So, any help I can get on the way is a bonus. That’s where ‘Family History Monthly’ comes in handy. A ... Read review

The Family Tree Magazine
Review of Family Tree by micksheff

Advantages: Full of useful information
Disadvantages: Bulky to store

I began researching my own family tree about 5 years ago and soon came across a magazine called The Family Tree Magazine. The Family Tree magazine is a monthly publication available from most decent newsagents. It is published by ABM Publishing Ltd and ... Read review

I was considering buying one of these magazines, but I think you may be right about the internet. I have only been researching my family tree for about 6 months, all done over the internet usng information known by my parents, and have already traced all of my great grand parents and one great great grandparent. by A.M.Richards
I've just began researching mine so will look out for this kind of magazine to help me. by KarenUK

Great oaks from little acorns
Review of Family Tree by MAFARRIMOND

Advantages: Advice on how and where to research, articles
Disadvantages: Advertisements, the cost

It was parents 50th wedding anniversary. What to buy them for a present? This was a real problem. My mother is registered blind and has very poor mobility. They do not go out and have the house and decorations as they want. I didn’t want to get the usual ... Read review

I think what is available on the net (and free to large extent) is really enough in guiding one on 'how to' on family treeing. Good review anyway. by magdadh

Advantages: ok for serious researchers
Disadvantages: leaves beginners behind, cost - can be borrowed from some libraries and family history societies.

Family tree magazine (out monthly, priced £3.50) is the sister magazine of Practical Family History magazine and is not ideal for beginners. This magazine is better suited to slightly more experienced researchers or genealogists. Like Practical Family H ... Read review

Find those ancestors
Review of Family Tree by poet831

Advantages: Informative articles, reader involvement sections, expert advice, very easily readable, worldwide readership
Disadvantages: Geared, quite heavily, to the American side of the Atlantic right now.

Family Tree Magazine is a monthly publication for those of us who are pursuing our ancestors through the murky mire of time. It is in an easy to read format, is useful for beginners and old pros alike, and is a wealth of information. Although it is an ... Read review

I agree with your comments, but also I find that this magazine is geared to the more experienced researcher, not the beginner. I prefer Practical Family History - the sister magazine, so perhaps you should try that. The Family History Monthly is geared more for this country as it has articles specifically on UK Family History societies and surnames with geographical areas noted. werewolf. by werewolf
