10K in repairs?! Shocking! Certainly a premium to pay if they're not built to last...though with most new products these days they don't appear to be made to last as they use poor quality parts and cheap plastics..the great disposable world! Advantages: Excellent Jaguar Warranty. Dealer service very good. Turns heads.
Disadvantages: NOT reliable. Poor built quality. Jaguar DO NOT return emails!!

I have had my S Type from new (June 1999) and have been impressed, most of the time. However, when I came to change two tyres last year I found out the wrong speed rating tyres had been fitted originally...Jaguar replaced ALL the tyres on the car at half price. What now worries me is the misfire/jogging you refer to: mine has recently started doing this and is in for service next week and I sincerely hope that I don't end uop with a similar bill to yours. by taxbreak

Good info in your review, but I personaly dont like this car, to me it is not a real Jag..... bits of Mk II shapes woven into this new design etc . Give me the old proper stuff ( warts and all ! ) any day ..... best wishes.... Terry. by cashman44

Why oh why Have jaguar named this not-oustanding example of a posh Rover 75 an "S-type"? It's just wrong. Jaguar made the original S type back in the 60s, and the "new S type" is nothing by comparision. It's a bit like the "new" Beatle, or the mini, it lo ... Read review

This review is just a rant about how good the old S-type is. It doesn't give me any information about the new one - performance, handling, interior, running costs, etc. As a review, its useless. by coopuk
I was given a new S-Type for a 7 day test drive and in my opinion it's the best in it's class by a long way... much better than a BMW or Merc. I agree with you though that they shouldn't have called it an S-Type. It does have something 'special' about it just like the original though. by innocent
