A Bargain Boiler Or A Bit of A Bruiser?
Review of Russell Hobbs 18540-70 by Nar2

Advantages: Rapid boil, 1.7 litre capacity, concealed element, part of a collection series, cheapish prices.
Disadvantages: A few design issues, not enough heat insulation, weird cup gradients.

When my traditional Russell Hobbs corded kettle finally broke, it was only just a couple of months ago and I have been determined to get it repaired rather than chucking it out, as a traditional metal bodied kettle that has lasted as long as this is like ... Read review

Russells boiling up again... only this time it's smaller
Review of Russell Hobbs 14924 by blissman70

Advantages: easy to use, quick enough to boil, compact and nice looking (for a kettle)
Disadvantages: none really

Kettles and I have never got on… and no, it’s not me being paranoid, I’m not paranoid, although I know that my psychiatrist thinks I am. It’s just that kettle and I simply don’t get on. I say this because when ever I but a kettle I know that within ... Read review

Good kettle, dreadful filter
Review of Russell Hobbs 15075 by fairyhedgehog

Advantages: Works well except for the filter
Disadvantages: Poor filter, filter no longer available

This kettle works well and pours well, although we do tend to get water splashes. Sadly, the filter scales up quickly, tears easily when being cleaned, and is no longer available as a spare part. When it's scaled up, the kettle pours badly but we don't ... Read review

Not a bad first review here, but there's rather more about the filter than the kettle itself. The price is an essential ingredient in a review like this - I also like to read where you got it from. R. by RICHADA

Most plastic kettles suffer from a poor taste, not just Elgento in my opinion. I thoroughly wash them out with vinegar, lemon juice and bicarb soda, also boiling afterwards for about three times and chucking out the water. That usually does the trick. by Nar2

An old looking kettle from the 21st Century...
Review of Russell Hobbs 18256 Heritage by blissman70

Advantages: Nice looking, quick boil, good size handle and a good price
Disadvantages: handle blocks filling up from the top properly and a little difficult to see how much water is in

I hate kettles, with a venomous spirit, sort of. It’s down to the fact that when I buy one I end up having to bin it after a few month due to some technical fault or another. Which means that I have bought and used a lot of kettles during my lifetim ... Read review

Diamond review   Just add water….
Review of Morphy Richards Accents Jug Kettle by Bollinger28

Advantages: Reaches boiling point quickly. Looks very stylish. Easy to keep clean.
Disadvantages: Quite noisy. Weird tasting tea if the water is reboiled.

Another brill review (and I think I've found how to get over that funny text box bug too)! At first I thought I had the same kettle as they look very similar, but mine's a Morphy Richards and we don't get the plasticky taste to the water. Have you tried using a descaler with it yet? I'm not saying it will help for definite, but it might just. Either that, or try boiling it with a spot of white wine vinegar in the water if you have some in the cupboard (and haven't got rid of the plastic taint yet. If you have, forget the suggestions). I like kettles with the back light. To me it adds a little extra dimension to an appliance even though it's rather limited to what appliances they can add it to! :) by JeeanA
