Simply the best standalone MIDI merge/patch routing device on the market in rackmount form, plus it's an 8x I/O USB interface for your PC if so desired! Totally rock solid MIDI timing and reliability with the only real comparable alternative being a Atari ST(e) computer. It looks very stylish in smooth brushed silver and the operation and setup is very straightforward. The UM-880 was released circa 2002/3 and was later discontinued, so it is hard to find and rarely comes up on Ebay, but I would make every effort to get one if you can as your studio setup will be poorer without it. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Advantages: all the inputs/outputs you need, excellent sound card, Zero latency, easy to use
Disadvantages: none it has solved all of my home recording problems and dilemas
