Review of Burj Khalifa ,Dubai by dkm1981

Advantages: Tallest building in the world! Amazing views, not too expensive
Disadvantages: Need to book in advance, queues

Burj Khalifa needs no other introduction than that it is the tallest building in the world. And by quite some considerable margin. It is located in Dubai in the Downtown area and offers unrivalled views over the city and the desert beyond. If you are in D ... Read review

Frustratingly Fussy
Review of Sheraton Mall of the Emirates, Dubai by dkm1981

Advantages: Nice rooms, nice hotel, excellent location
Disadvantages: Restaurant terrible and overpriced, expensive, fussy

My opinion of this hotel is somewhat mixed; we had a bit of a frustrating stay here to be honest. The hotel, when we booked it, was a Pullman Hotel, but changed on the day that we arrived to Sheraton. Despite the fact that we were assured pre stay that we ... Read review

Go Wild at Wadi
Review of Wild Wadi Water Park, Dubai by dkm1981

Advantages: Fun, Safe, Clean, Friendly Staff
Disadvantages: Expensive, some stuff closed

Wild Wadi is a themed water park on Jumeirah Beach in Dubai. We had a day there on our recent trip and enjoyed it more than we thought we would and I'd recommend a visit if you are in the area. It is competing against the more famous Atlantis Water Park o ... Read review

Under the Milky Way
Review of Milky Way Eco Lodge, Jordan by hiker

Advantages: More comfortable than you might expect - warm and welcoming hosts
Disadvantages: None - unless of course you don't like desert

Milky Way Camp, Wadi Rum For some reason Ciao were not prepared to accept this under 'hotels' - although in all but the technical sense that is what it is - but are happy for it to be listed as an attraction. Odd. Me and the whole "tent" thing= ... Read review

Review of Al Captain, Aqaba by hiker

Advantages: Location: just a few streets from the beach
Disadvantages: None - but the food isn't as swanky as the website makes it look

Arrival & Check-in We arrived in Aqaba full of desert sand and with nothing on the agenda other than to check into the hotel and chill out. There was talk of diving and scuba and boat trips. I was in the mood for a day off, so for once the hote ... Read review

Advantages: It's a desert
Disadvantages: It's a desert

Wadi Ramm Wadi is one of those words that doesn’t seem to translate very well. I'm no Arabic scholar but the impression I get is that most people think of a Wadi as being a river bed. Well, yes… but perhaps the more generic "valley" might be a be ... Read review

I understand your reason why, but all the same it doesn't much appeal. Deserts repel me; I'd only go for the human relics, and L's house doesn't sound as if it quite measures up! by torr

Review of Pigeon Rock, Beirut by Mistee-Dreamz

Advantages: Lovely place to visit

An excellent review of a fascinating place. John by Coloneljohn
Oh my. Sounds amazing. I have to say I've been swithering about the rating because I suspect this is actually much too long a review for the average consumer - I think this should be published in a travel guide for those with time to read at leisure. But the writing is exceptionally good - and I'm pretty sure you've included all relevant information, though I was so caught up in the story-telling style that I can't be sure. by Kukana

Simple Shobak
Review of Shobak Castle, Petra by hiker

Advantages: It's free, it's en route, you get to wander at will
Disadvantages: None - unless you're not able to make up your own interpretation

Shobak isn’t the kind of place to make the focus of a day out. It’s more the sort of delight you stumble across on the way home. In the late afternoon sun, the walls cast a golden glow from vantage point above the road. An early 12th century Crusader c ... Read review

Into Dana Another day, another dusty sky. It was clear by now that it wasn’t going to be clear for the duration of our stay. Global warming is a fact – whether it’s man-made, a natural blip in the eon-scale-fluctuations of normal-for-earth, or so ... Read review
