It sounds like the locals aren't terribly friendly. I cannot believe you were pushed over on the metro and received neither apology nor help getting up - that's unbelievable. The waiter who wouldn't let you use the toilet sounds like he needs to learn some manners too :o( by Bollinger28

Sounds like the hotel I stayed in in Rome - they had stiff wooden shutters on the windows, add to that the whole room being wood panelled, it was like sleeping in a coffin. by Amazingwoo

Advantages: I wasn't paying, my room was clean, good breakfasts.

The smoking issue aside (which I do not relate to personally but can well understand) you seem to have presented a more positive picture than anyone else I know who have passed through this place. I was absolutely shocked that they did this with a big smile in their face and talking about honesty! If you can't trust what they tell you, the hotel can't be trusted IMHO. The problem was that there were several fairs in town, so there was nothing free under 90 euros. by stoerebink
