Review of North Borders - Bonobo by SirJoseph

Advantages: Instruments, Different, Chilled
Disadvantages: Mixed Tracks, Too Long, Background Noise Worthy

Bonobo Amidst playing card games with a college chum a couple of years ago, Electronica artist Bonobo came out of his Spotify playlist. That's not me recommending the music streaming app - I despise its adverts. So this chilled out, jazzy ... Read review

Review of Underworld - Symphony X by Borg

Advantages: Creative, fast, melodic...
Disadvantages: None

When the first ever Prog Rock charts were issued in September 2015, a few people would have been surprised with the inclusion of Symphony X, nestling strongly alongside the likes of Pink Floyd and Muse, but there they were in the top ten. And well deserve ... Read review

Advantages: Great Marley Vibe, Great to chill to and uplift your mood
Disadvantages: Political lyrics, possibly one dated track

Long Live The Undisputed King Of Reggae!
Review of Legend (Digitally Remastered) - Bob Marley by IanPhillips1979

Advantages: Contains the cream of Marley's work.
Disadvantages: Those wanting a more wider, comprehensive overview of his career should go for the box set instead

Jamaica's most gifted musical artist was undoubtedly the legendary Bob Marley. Marley and his dynamic backing group, The Wailers, became THE sound of Jamaica, taking reggae music into the mainstream. Deservedly hailed as the undisputed and unparalleled k ... Read review

And breathe! That's one heck of a long sentence. Full stops and capital letters please, that's what makes the English language readable. Garfunkel and Oates show how great raunchy comedy music can be!
Review of Secretions - Garfunkel and Oates by iamasadlittleboy

Advantages: Hilarious, great world play, some genuinely brilliant tracks
Disadvantages: A few weaker lyrics, a bit too offensive for some, explicit content

Comedy music, at it's very core, is a gimmick genre. It's not necessarily about musical ability but about comedy and occasionally it provides little more than cheap laughs rather than a well thought out and creatively intelligent listen. Every so often ho ... Read review

An uninspired effort from the Hayseed Dixie boys
Review of You Wanna See Something Really Scary - Hayseed Dixie by iamasadlittleboy

Advantages: It's short, it's bluegrass rock
Disadvantages: It falls very short of expectations

Over the past few days I've been dipping my toes back into the bluegrass-cover band Hayseed Dixie and came across one of their EP's “You Wanna See Something Really Scary?”. The EP features 5 tracks and was released back in 2006, as their 6th release in to ... Read review

"Weaving" a tale or two in captivating voice and lovely backing
Review of Orfeo - Fay Hield & the Hurricane Party by 2mennycds

Advantages: Gorgeous voice, well arranged and accompanied
Disadvantages: Trad lyrics and style may not be to all tastes, though worth trying!

“The hurricane party” isn’t what you would expect for the name of the band that backs a singer who performs “folk” music in a very traditional style. The way its members were selected also breaks the rules. Normally a singer (or producer) decides what in ... Read review

Review of Not Till Tomorrow - Ralph McTell by 2mennycds

Advantages: Wide scope of songs, great tunes, sound arrangements
Disadvantages: Not a single one!

In my opinion, this is the strongest of Ralph McTell’s albums to the date of its release back in 1972. There isn’t a single track that I don’t like (there aren’t many CDs I have of which that can be said) and I would rate them all between very good and br ... Read review
