Christchurch - a little piece of England in New Zealand

Very helpful. We're thinking of relocating to NZ, and Christchurch is one of the possible places in South Island we're considering, along with Nelson, Queenstown and Dunedin (brrr!). by Colenso
Well, roads changing names every few miles or so and reverting sounds very much like English roads to me! I would like to visit NZ (and Australia, for that matter!) . . . ♥ jes ♥ by jesi

Christchurch tramway - drive through a building or crash into it
Review of Christchurch Tramway, Christchurch by beckyXX

Advantages: Fun way to do a city tour
Disadvantages: Rickety, don't run often, expensive, slow

The Christchurch tramway is a 2.5km long tourist tramway that loops around the city centre of Christchurch in New Zealand. Although vintage trams are used, this is not a historical remnant (the tram networked stopped being used in the 1950s), but were rei ... Read review

Very helpful - Love trams, furniculars and the like but I take your point about it being rather impractical for day to day use. Another fascinating insight into potential life in Christchurch. Thank you for the useful info. by Colenso

Dux de Lux - review of Christchurch Restaurant
Review of Dux de Lux, Christchurch by beckyXX

Advantages: Central location, price, food quality, vegetarian friendly, vegan-friendly, gluten free options
Disadvantages: Not a lot for fussy eaters

Interesting, I liked the beers in the one in Queenstown but I didn't go here, though I did pass it on the way to the Botanical Gardens. by larsbaby
Very helpful review. I try to avoid eating out whenever possible and when I do eat out, I want to spend my hard earned cents somewhere worthwhile. I particularly like your comparison of the place with its sister eatery of the same name in Queenstown These are all very useful reviews to anyone like me thinking of going (back) to Christchurch and other places in NZ. Well done and thank you. by Colenso

Very well-written, entertaining review as always. What I love about the Kiwis is their love of living - rather than watching others live, which seems to be the main preoccupation of most Aussies, as I have learnt much to my disappointment over the many years I have lived here in FNQ. by Colenso

Very helpful. My wife and I always stay in hostels whenever we can, unless we can grab a "special" at a local motel or the like. Sadly, it's been many years since I've been able to take advantage of our Life membership for the UK YHA. Ah well! Got a tropical beach on my doorstep every day instead of a brisk walk or run down to a secluded Cornish cove, so shouldn't complain I suppose. by Colenso
