Thanks for the info even if it wasn't a review. Yes it's perfectly fine for them to mess up because it's you who pays for it, the same way you do if YOU mess up. I'd keep at this until they break. If you can't do it get someone who will help you. by LawrenceP

Whilst I have no doubt that indifferent management saw the value of your fund decrease, and the management charges were extortionate, you were also very unfortunate that your money was invested in the 10 most turbulent years our economic system has seen in living memory. Hindsight is 20/20 as they say. I would loved to have taken the 15k I invested in stocks in early 1999 and stuck them somewhere safe, as the return on my investment was -25%. I suspect your experience was the unlucky confluence of bad timing and apathetic management. I hope you fare better in future. Useful review. by Hishyeness

i know this was 3 years ago but i really feel i must comment. i know alot about the marconni pep you are talking about and its a ridiculous account that you should never have opened and your a fool to continue to operate it. its not barclays fault. peps are expensive to operate and if you insist on keeping it open im affraid your going to have to pay. this review should not be taken seriously. the marconi pep is an account that barclays stockbrokers continues to operate for people that insist on keeping it open. this account does not reflect the range of accounts barclays opperates. what i would suggest you do is open a self select maxi isa ask barclays to transfer the shares to this new account and close the PEP. you wont be charged any closure charge as you are staying with barclays. you will then be able to deal online with no problems. P.S. why did you insist on repeatedly trying to deal online when the terms and conditions clearly say its a telephone based dealing account with no online dealing oppertunities? by trixibell
