Review of The Sea Without A Shore - David Drake by Coloneljohn

Advantages: A thoroughly enjoyable addition to the series.
Disadvantages: Some will be put off by the science fiction nature of the work

...Sea without a shore” is the latest edition (10th) to the Lt Leary/RCN saga of stories which shows no signs of fading away with failing quality of writing. Like others, Mr Drake has used historical events here as his basis as he explains ... Read review

Pompous twit in space.
Review of The View From The Imperium - Jody Lynn Nye by Coloneljohn

Advantages: Humorous space opera.
Disadvantages: Some will be put off by the science fiction label.

Review of Allegiant - Veronica Roth by elfbwillow

Advantages: The story has some sort of closure
Disadvantages: It is nothing like its predesessors

What would you do to survive?
Review of Under a Graveyard Sky - John Ringo by Coloneljohn

Advantages: Realistically entertaining story of a "Zombie Apocalypse".
Disadvantages: Some would be put off by the somewhat science fiction nature of part of the story.

It starts small enough. A flu like virus infection (called the Pacific flu) that is slow to manifest itself. In the final few days though, the infected person is highly contagious, but it appears to start to clear. That's when stage two kicks in. The feel ... Read review

The Emotional Trauma That Is Allegiant By Veronica Roth
Review of Allegiant - Veronica Roth by crisdelina

Advantages: Great conclusion, full of action, great character development
Disadvantages: Can be slow at times, the ending isnt for the faint hearted!

This is the third and final installment of the Divergent series written by Veronica Roth, it is to my knowledge widely available from any major bookshop eg Waterstones, but I have also seen it in several supermarkets such as Asda & Tesco. The price of the ... Read review

Review of Allegiant - Veronica Roth by GalaxyNova

Advantages: Good character growth, nice story line
Disadvantages: Slow beginning

To be honest I'm a bit confused as to how i'm going to review this. As i have mixed feelings for this book. It wasn't the greatest yet it was the worst. It held its ground in the middle. Now I promise NO spoilers. I think the greatest riff people had wi ... Read review

Review of Random Acts Of Senseless Violence - Jack Womack by dee7778

Advantages: Engaging character and good plot
Disadvantages: Sometimes seems a bit dated

The Foundation of Sci-Fi?
Review of Foundation - Isaac Asimov by bbicuk01

Advantages: Great characters and an interesting plot
Disadvantages: Poor proofreading from publishers Voyager

Review of Fire with Fire - Charles E Gannon by Coloneljohn

Advantages: A very convoluted but entertaining story.
Disadvantages: Some will be put off by the science fiction nature of the story.

Dune doesn't live up to the hype, but still good
Review of Dune - Frank Herbert by Siubijeni

Advantages: Classic, interesting premise
Disadvantages: Highly internalized, little action or even adventure, many inaccuracies/implausibilities

I find Dune to be something of an interesting case. As a classic science fiction novel, it receives a lot of praise and publicity. It's certainly a good enough book, and probably worth a read for sci-fi fans, but it doesn't even come close to living up to ... Read review

The Cobra Trilogy is Well Worth the Read
Review of The Cobra Trilogy - Timothy Zahn by Siubijeni

Advantages: Interesting premise, outstanding characters, believable plot
Disadvantages: Timeskip confusions, some unclear/undeveloped references
