Review of European Union Erasmus Programme by ljackson24

Advantages: Amazing once in a life time opportunity to meet new people and experience a differenct culture.

I did Erasmus last year and it was the best year of my life. The only problem was that whenever you tried to speak their language, they'd reply back in English. Maybe that was just because of my lack of'proficiency' :P by mc_uk100
Had never heard of Erasmus before. Well explained and a pleasure to read! Ann by anwar

I agree with the comment below and as only one of my parents earn more than £30,000 it still doesnt mean that the students get any money off the parent/s. I do agree what did happen before all this came into place? im sure lots of people still went to college with their parents earning less than £30,000 by sarahd1111
i disagree with below comment after all what did students do to go to college before it came in and I hardly think £30000 is some way above average earnings, especially if you live wth two working parents, even one it isnt a massive income and hardly a great income for anyone's parents by Claiiiree

A Word from an ex Student!
Review of Student Loan Company by LindsxDx

Advantages: Easy money, financial support when you can't really support yourself
Disadvantages: Interest really mounts up, repayments swallow up payments for things that you should be considering after uni i.e. nice house, decent holidays

I would like to pass on some worldly advice to all those budding students out there. I graduated in 2003 and unfortunately at that point I was well and truly up to my eyeballs in debt. I worked throughout my three years at university and still felt I ne ... Read review

You've made some good points - in the first year at uni I didn't know expensive everthing would be so I took out the full tuition and maintenance loan amount, by the time the second year came around I had enough money left over from my maintenance loan to pay for the second years tuition so I took out no loan at all. Unfortunately by the third year (this academic year hust started) I did not have enough to pay for tuition so have had to take out the tuition fee loan but with the manitenance grant and my less-than-minimum-wage job I will just manage to stay afloat. That said even though I spend my days scrimping and saving I will still end up roughly £11000 in debt before interest is added. by Huomenna

Write to your local MP. Letters from MP's often get more noticed. Also, you could threaten them with media coverage, ie, watchdog. Workers don't like being highlighted as incompetent! I am sorry for the low rating, but this wasn't really about the SLC as such, but your problem with them. I could write a book on them, too! Gwen :-) by orlando

The most unfair scheme I have heard of!

There are other schemes available for those who are in full-time education over the age of 18 ~ so perhaps it is worth working and saving ~ if there are a lot of expenses, sometimes parents qualify for other help as well, with things like housing and Council tax ~ and not everyone wastes their money ~ l seem to remember tutors having to verify that the students were actually in classes as well . . . ~ ! ♥♥ ! ~ ........................................................... ~ jes ~ ! ♥ ♥ ! by jesi
I agree it is crazy to think of it as an incentive and then only give it to some. My kids both get it but not the top amount. If I had a part time job, they wouldn't get it at all. Some of their friends dont get anything and are in the same boat with more than one other sibling. Really I agree there should be an assessment based on how many are in a family living off the household income. Either that or give the same amount to all. by eyebright1234
