Review of Acuter ST16 48x65A Angled Spotting Scope by micksheff

Advantages: Good value for money, good features
Disadvantages: A bit heavy

Iíve owned a telescope and tripod since I was about 16 years old, since the early days of my membership of the YOC (Young Ornithologists Club) and my later progression as an fully fledged (pardon the pun) birder with the RSPB and my local bird club the SB ... Read review

A great telescope at a very good price
Review of Sky-Watcher Explorer 130PM by pumfster

Advantages: Good level of magnification for the price. An ideal first telescope which won't become obsolete.
Disadvantages: Can be awkward to store in a smaller house.

As a keen follower of shows such as The Sky at Night with the legendary Sir Patrick Moore, Iíve always had a keen interest in astronomy. To this end, my wife bought me a telescope for Christmas a couple of years ago, and the model she decided to buy me wa ... Read review

Celestron Showed Me Saturn. :-)
Review of Celestron Powerseeker 127EQ by JoNB5

Advantages: Easy to use, great views, helps you learn the skies
Disadvantages: Finderscope moves easily, sometimes a bit wobbly

This is my first telescope, bought after staring at the skies far too often. The Powerseeker 127 EQ has an aperture of 127mm, a focal length of 1000mm and is an f/8 telescope. It also comes with a manual German Equatorial Mount, which once polar aligned ... Read review

Review of National Geographic Telescope by JohnnyGonzalez007

Advantages: Excellent image, looks great, many objects to modify image.
Disadvantages: Not so durable nor sturdy, but it gets the job done.

I bought this telescope recently, and I have to say, it is impressive quality, you can see the craters on the moon very clearely, great for beginner astronomers like myself. This telescope is great for people who want to see the moon or one of the planet ... Read review

Great scope for the keen amateur
Review of Sky-Watcher Explorer 200 F/5 by orbiter

Advantages: Large aperture, reasonably portable, good optics, dual axis drive on motorised model
Disadvantages: Polar alignment scope difficult to use, heavy but necessary counter weights

The large aperture on this scope gives it good light gathering capacity enabling you to the see further fainter objects that smaller aperture scopes don't. It's well built and keeps its collimation if treated right. The optics are great giving sharp cle ... Read review

LX200 12" GPS
Review of Meade LX200 by nikauuk

Advantages: GOTO makes faint fuzzies easy, more time for observing.
Disadvantages: Heavy, just carryable by one if you are strongish.

The Meade 12" LX200GPS with UHTC (£3999) is a big beast of a scope. It is a Schmidt Cassegrain telescope, which basically means it has a conveniently short tube, about 20" for the 12" (the 12" is the diameter of the tube) model. At the bottom end of the t ... Read review
